Amazon has a new Kindle reader, the Kindle 2, and it looks freakin' tiny!

Can you imagine going on vacation and just taking this tiny little thing instead of a ton of books.  Or am I the only one who does that?  Does anyone here have any experience with Kindle?  Do you like/love/hate it?  I just don't know if I can give up the actual smell of books ( Read more... )

I seriously considered getting a Kindle when this new version first came out. Two things convinced me not to do it: 1) the difficulty of uploading html pages to the reader (you can do it, but it's a ridiculous process); and 2) not a single book I might actually want to read was available in Kindle form (admittedly, they were all history books, but it was disappointing how little non-fic is available for the Kindle).

So I suggest that you think about what you want to use it for and make sure it has the functionality that you want. Also, run some searches on Amazon for books that you want to read or typically read. Make sure there are Kindle versions. It's not worth the investment if there's nothing you want to read. :(

Uncle Wil has one--likes it. Jim, like your other friend, downloads books to his PDA. He says there are lots of good books, both free and to purchase--including current fiction.
