It looks to me like backwash.com, where I have written some "articles", is going down for the count. At some as-yet-unspecified future date, to be sure -- but the decay seems more than just progressive at this point. It'll be sad if it gets nuked, because there is a lot of clever content buried in there -- especially on old messageboard threads. I

It kinda intimidated me after awhile with how complex it got...just too much...I kept saying I'd go back and write more, but never got to it...I'd go back and read a column or 3, but just couldn't stick around like I could when it was simpler...

The complexity didn't bug me too much, but I've also never been accused of being a prolific, creative writer. Of course, a lot of my messageboard comments could have been construed to be columns, too. Ha!

The easiest way to put my view is that if I go to a party and I don't want to hang around anybody there, then it's best to go find another one. It's not nessessarily the fault of the people for not being interesting to me, it's my problem and that's my solution.
I keep typing thoughts on BW in this comment box and then I delete them. I could probably write a whole disertation on what I think has hurt the site, and what led me to believe it was going to die out well over a year ago, but it can't do any good anyway.
Maybe I'll post that privately or I'll e-mail you.
One important thing I have to say though, David deserves a lot of credit for his vision and I hope he doesn't completely give up on his web projects. I don't think the site's shortcomings have that much to with him at all.
