What is the best way to approach a doctor's appointment where you want to tell the doctor you've found something that matches 99.9% of your symptoms and you'd like to check it out further
( Read more... )
In my experience, in talking with doctors, the main problem you have is not beeing able to finish any single sentence. I've never met a doctor who sat and listened you more than ten seconds... but maybe it's just my bad luck.
If your doctor is willing to listen, you won't have problems, though I would strongly suggest you print those symptoms and provide her the list. You won't have to fight to say everything you want her to hear.
edit1: I forgot to say - maake a list as simple as you can. Just symptoms: 1. blah blah - check 2. blah blah - check
I swear, 99% of the symptoms are me. I have a bunch of them as I sit here right now. I also have a ton of frustration aimed at my mum at the moment too. asked my parents for some advice on what to do to help my decision of whether to speak to the doctor about it or not and in the space of 5 minutes she went from "yes" to "maybe it's remnants of your cold, see if it clears up". When I mentioned all the times it's happened to me without a cold present, she snapped at me and told me to go to the doctor then. I'm just....so tired of people thinking this is all in my head and that I'm making it sound worse than it is.
Oh, I didn't mean to make it sound like you were. I'm just in a fuzzy-head place at the moment, so nothing makes sense. I just wrote out a list of symptoms and it's pretty long. I'm one of the worst people for self-diagnosing, so I get what you mean. But if she won't take it seriously, then I guess I have the right to a second opinion as well. I'll see what happens. Thanks though, really. I may come across snappy sometimes, but it's just frustration at things. *hugs*
