a/n: unbeta-ed. idek. srsly, CRACK. i will just go kill myself now. and i know jonghyun had his hat on but think this is before lucifer perf :D
‘shinee, ten minutes ‘till stage!’ the pd-nim’s voice echoed inside the room. which was surprising, really, wihen fifteen rowdy boys running around and the coordi-noona’s running after them. this is why there never was a permanent camera backstage.
‘i think i’m beginning to like pink!’ donghae says cheerily as he examined the coat he had on. ‘pink’s a bright color that just….shines.’ he added. that signature fishy smile on his lips.
kyuhyun wasn’t even sure who he was talking to because hyukjae on his left was busy playing (or maybe twittering) with his phone and well, there was no one sitting on his right. although you’d hear sungmin retorting, ‘pink is my color! i’ve bought rights and ownership over it!’ and that’d just add to the noise there was.
‘kyuhyun! i’m talking to you!’ donghae calls from his seat on the couch.
it was really hard to concentrate, let alone talk to just one person, kyuhyun thinks. donghae was signaling for him to come over when he hears ‘kyuhyun-hyung!’ being yelled over and over and he doesn’t know which to accommodate first.
‘there you are!’ kyuhyun jumps in his seat a little when jonghyun appears seated on the arm rest right beside him. ‘i’ve been looking e-very-where for you.’ jonghyun stresses. but kyuhyun rolls his eyes because how can he look for him e-very-where when all he had to do was look to the opposite side of the dressing room.
‘what do you want, jonghyun?’ donghae says without much interest when he figures the dongsaeng was here to steal kyuhyun from him. and donghae just clings onto kyuhyun’s arms as if telling him that kyuhyun was here to stay.
‘i need hyung to practice vocals with me before we go stage!’ jonghyun whines and tugs on kyuhyun’s arm.
‘don’t you have jinki for that,’ the fish replies and he sticks his tongue out.
‘he’s out…. there,’ jonghyun waves a hand because really, he just wants kyuhyun. ‘i want kyuhyun-hyung,’
and as if on cue, ‘yah, jonghyun,i heard that.’ jinki swats the other’s lion hair do, sure enough that it wasn’t going to get messed up considering the amount of wax and hairspray the put on it.
somehow, it was only then that kyuhyun notices, ‘…what is up with the hair, jonghyun?’ he eyes him weirdly and pokes a finger at it. yes, you can poke hair. ‘you look like…a scared sunflower…’ he couldn’t help but add in.
jinki bursts into laughter, and anyone could easily tell that it was him from his notable high-pitched tone. ‘probably like those dandelions!’ he chirps in a second later, and just ends up laughing harder. and donghae’s left to join in on the fun.
its times like this when their reputations are thankful that there aren’t any cameras around. because by now, jonghyun had managed to squeeze himself into that space between kyuhyun and the arm rest, laughing at his own failure (as he sprawled himself all over kyuhyun).
and kyuhyun’s practically poking jonghyun’s hair to see if it would bite back. jinki’s laughing like there’s no tomorrow, his head thrown back as his voice rang in the room.
donghae was busy, laughing as he tried to tell eunhyuk what they were laughing about.
‘shinee, you’re up!’ the pd returns five minutes later and suddenly jinki and jonghyun’s eyes widen.
jinki’s leader status returns as he straightens up and he tugs jonghyun away for last minute retouching.
jonghyun tries to fight back, he flails, when he hasn’t gotten that voice warm up with kyuhyun. but jinki manages to pull him away with much ease-boy has got the arms for it now.
the hyungs give the two a wave, ‘we’ll make sure to cheer for you from here,’ they both said in singsong.
jinki gives them a smile before he’s left to drag jonghyun and the rest of shinee out of the dressing room and off to the stage.
