After my little bonding experience with Willow over hard drink and bartenders who became more and more attractive as the night progressed, I had to wonder if Willow and I made a connection. Not the lesbian kind that Willow makes because she's into that sort of thing and I'm not really, but you know, the other kind of connection. The friend one? Or ( Read more... )

I was playing with my miniture pool table on my desk when I heard a knock at the door. I wasn't expecting anyone to come by so I almost sent the mini pool cue flying in the direction of the door. I caught it in mid-air and shoved my game in my top desk drawer.

Without thinking I shouted very loudly and boisterously, "Enter!" I always wanted to say that like I had heard in all of the gangster movies. Hopefully it wasn't someone that I needed to be serious with.

When the door was opened very slowly I waited patiently. The first thing I saw was legal folders coming in through the door. Then very graceful hands and arms, then... Anya.

I was able to manage a composed expression and said, "Hey, what can I do for you?" The 'hey' sounded like a pubescent teenager screech, something in only my mind sounded like a word.

I cleared my throat. There wasn't any reason for me to act weird around Anya. We worked together now, and that was all.

I shuffled into his office, still clutching the folders nervously.

"Hey, what can I do for you?"He sounded so calm and normal. Typical Xander not to be tweaking out. I mean, it wasn't like there was anything be tweaking out about. I was overreacting, clearly ( ... )

"Files... my boss Lilah wanted me to deliver these files to your office. I don't know what they're for but they're for you."

"Oh..." I replied dumbly and stood up to take the stack from her. I smiled a little. "Thanks."

I set them on my desk and looked at her.

"How've you been?" Of course she is fine and probably dating and all that. That's why she doesn't even want anything to do with me anymore. Xander the glorified janitor Harris.

I nodded my head maybe a touch too vigorously,

"Oh I'm nifty. What with the job and all. Lilah's very professional. I get paid a lot of money. I mean, other than work..."

I stopped short and shrugged, "You know. Busy..?" I tried lying but it didn't exactly work.

"No not really. My idea of a busy Friday night is watching Passions that Spike TiVo'd while he was out lurking or something."

Xander looked at me like I had lost my mind. I guess he didn't hear about the rooming situation.

I groaned, "They stuck me with him. For rooming. I don't know, we don't really talk that much. Sometimes he yells at me for trying to decorate and we get into irritating arguments, but he always gives up after a good five minutes. What about you?"
