Mr. Angel

Unable to find Fred in the lab, or well when she didn't answer her phone or call back, I decided to ask Wesley's secretary if she'd go over to the girl's house and find them some things. She seemed nice enough, but a little unsure when I mentioned going with her. After a bit more uncomfortable looks, I just decided that I'd drive her over to the house and she could go inside and get the things. I told her specifically to find this 'Boo' or whatever it was. I think I overheard Marilee say something like close to a wombat.. or something.

Apparently, Wesley had picked his own secretary out and done a good job of it at that. I'll have to talk to him about that..again. She-Jennifer seemed nice enough. She did work for Wolfram and Hart, after all, but I decided not to ask her how long. That might go into another conversation all by itself. I waited in the car while she went inside and gathered a few things. When she got back, she put some suitcases she'd found in the back seat and then got back in the front. I gave her a hesitant smile when she got back in the car. She gave a slight smile back as she held up what looked like a..well, a something.

"I'll assume that's the..'Boo'?" I asked her. She smiled a bit again and nodded. "Well, I hope so." I smiled and started the car back up, driving back to the office. We rode in silence for the majority of the way back just as we had done on there way there, but she looked over at me when we weren't far from the office. "So, about the party tonight? Do you know what you're going to dress up as yet?"

Giving her a quick look, I think my eyes went a little too wide and my mouth hung a bit open. "I-uh..come again?" She looked in front of her. "Mr. Green's party. It's costume party. I assumed you knew. Maybe he left you a message?"

Okay first of all.. party. Second.. a costume party? I cursed under my breath at the fact that there might be a message I hadn't gotten. She was probably right. "I-, well..I'm not sure if dressing up is a good..idea, for me." She raised a brow at me and shrugged. "Maybe, but I'm sure Mr. Green will be disappointed.'

Frowning, I nodded and pulled out my phone. With a heavy sigh, I called the office, not bothering to check my messages. I got Harmony's desk, but didn't get an answer. Rolling my eyes, I left a message telling her to call for a tuxedo to be left in my office for the party tonight. That would do right? Let's hope so. Maybe I can say that I'm..a CEO of some major company. It's not like I felt like an actual one for most of the time.

I pulled into the parking garage a little while after hanging up the phone. I thanked Jennifer for coming with me and I took the things out of the backseat, carrying Marilee's 'Boo' under my arm. I sure hoped no one saw me carrying this thing around with the small suitcases in my hands. Jennifer and I parted ways once inside the building, and I walked into my own office. I set the things down and looked around the office, hoping that Harmony had gotten my message. I walked over to my desk and sighed heavily when I saw a clothing bag hanging on.. my 16th century sword. That's not exactly where one puts what I assumed to be the tuxedo. Well, at least she got the message in time. I pulled a sticky note off the bag and raised a brow at the note.

Here's your costume, Boss!

Costume? Wasn't this just a tuxedo? Making my way up to my penthouse, laid the bag on my bed and went to shower. After getting out of the shower, went to get dressed and started taking out the tux. The pants went on, as did the shirt, but when I came to put on the jacket I had a nice surprise. "What in the hell..," I automatically said when I pulled out the jacket and saw wings sewn onto the back of the jacket. Pink wings with - was that glitter? I think I stared at the jacket for a few minutes before it finally registered that this was actually a jacket with pink, glittery wings sewn into it. There was no way I could wear this. CEOs don't wear wings. Now I understood what she meant by 'costume'. And where did she get the idea for the wings? Thinking a minute I rolled my eyes. Angel. That would be my name, wouldn't it?

Still not putting the jacket on, I just carried it downstairs and now stood in my office, staring at the wings. I could make this work, right? Everyone else was going to be dressed up, or at least I hoped that they would be. This wasn't some trick the firm or even Lorne thought he could play on me was it? Making a face, I finally slipped on the jacket and slowly made my way to the closed office door. I came to find out that the wings moved back and forth as I walked. Just great. Sighing, I put my hand on the handle and slowly pulled open the door. I was going to need something to drink and fast.

As I walked out into the lobby area, I came to find that most everyone was already here. I stood in front of my door for a minute or so, then finally tore myself away, revealing what was on the back of my jacket. I could feel them moving back and forth as I walked, no matter how slow. When I sped up to walk faster past people, I felt them even more. It's a good thing I couldn't blush, because I know my face would be about the same color as the wings on my back. Scanning the area, I didn't spot anyone yet that I knew would take much pleasure in what I was wearing. Instead, I stopped a waiter and took two drinks - some small mixed drink that I downed right away, then a beer. Well, at least everyone was still dressed up and I wasn't the only one who got that memo.

Whatever was in the first drink started working. I still felt uncomfortable, but a bit looser at the same time. Still sipping on the beer, I just waited for the first person to say how 'lovely' my..wings were. I could just imagine..well, no I couldn't actually. They all probably expected me to hide out in my office or just come dressed as I'd planned - in a nice, simple suit. Finishing off the beer, I grabbed another as the waiter walked by again. He gave me a look and spotted my wings then gave me an even bigger look. Raising a brow, I glared at him a bit before looking away.

Hell, at least I was in the..spirit?
