Quickly, I left Lorne's office with the girls. I wasn't altogether certain of who I was more worried about. Fred or Lorne. I only remember seeing Fred this once. Or well, close to it. I think Gunn would remember that even better then I. After all, he'd been there for the aftermath. She was worried about Lorne, of course. Which I understood, but still. It may have actually been a good thing that I had the girls there. Even if Fred didn't seem to think so.
And then there was the more important matter at hand. Lorne. Or what we think is Lorne. The story he told us does sound believable to me, though rare. But if there is something we all specialize in? It's rare things. This demon had turned Lorne into a human. And after Fred insulted his clothing and then nearly his singing, I think Lorne's reaction was very... Lorne. The way he talks, the way his intonation is, his facial expressions. Even if the face is different, they are the same.
Lorne's a human. Good lord.
So dragging Alicia with me while I was carrying Marilee. Again. I made my way over to Angel's office. We thought it would be best to get Angel to see Lorne. At least he could take away any doubt. Or that was the plan at least. That Angel would be able to use his vampiric senses to make certain this Human was Lorne. And not some shape shifting demon pretending to be Lorne in human form. Why would anyone want to do that anyway?
"Are we going to see Mistwer Angel?" Marilee asked.
"Yes were are. And if we're lucky, Miss Cordelia will be there too. And hopefully she's willing to look after you two till we figure this...whatever is going on with Lorne out." Either that, or I'm going to have to ask Jennifer. And then I want them out of the building till I can get them again. I'm starting to distrust this place more and more.
"Miss Cordy will be there," Alicia said with some certainty. How she knew? I had no idea. Maybe it was some mental bond they've created. Fashion queens mental hotline, or something rather. Fascinating and very disturbing thought that.
"I don't know Sweetheart, but we're about to find out." Putting Marilee down, I reached to knock on Angel's door but never got that far. Alicia had already thrown the door open and stormed into the office. "Miss Cordy! Mister Angel! There's a human lornedemon and he aint green!"
Glancing down at Marilee, who shrugged up at me, I raised an eyebrow. Then I sighed and followed Alicia into the office. I seriously need to work on that young ladies manners.
