Ah the record player. CD's could never really replace vinyl albums for me. There was just something about them that you couldn't get from a compact disc. Something to do with the look and feel. CD's were so shiny and commercial looking. Vinyl had soul. I dread the response I would get if any of my younger counterparts heard me say that. Well, ( Read more... )

I did not let myself look back, I f I did I would probably see on angry former watcher and one amused former dead lawyer. I just did not care what they thought, or in all honesty, I did care. I really wanted Wesley to like me, to respect me, and I ruined that chance. He would probably hate me now and possibly tell his children that if they did not behave and study they too would turn into crazy failures like me. Lilah on the other hand will probably forever remember this day as one of her happier days. Yes ladies and gentleman, I was officially a failure ( ... )

112, 113, 114 .... "Excuse me?"

I had been counting ceiling tiles when Winifred finally entered her office. I sat up and attempted to look somewhat distinguished. "Good Afternoon Miss Burkle. My name is Rupert Giles."

I stood up and extended my hand to her with as small a smile as my British heritage would allow me. "I was wondering if I might speak with you for a few moments."

Strange British man in my office, at least he was polite and did not seem like he could be dangerous. Appearances can be a deceiving though and he could be someone from Wolfram and Hart sent here to destroy me. Not that I was paranoid, no I was definitely not paranoid. I was just being cautious. A girl had to make sure she was safe in this business.

“Giles.” I said slowly letting the name role around in my mouth. “Sure I have some time; really I have all the time in the world.” I took a seat across from him and met his gaze, he seemed kind and safe. I really hoped he would be, right now I needed friends not more enemies.

I smiled as she took a seat behind her desk. She settled herself in her chair and then looked up at me expectantly, her large brown eyes full of curiousity.

I cleared my throat, not exactly sure where to begin. Perhaps I should have thought this through a bit more thoroughly before coming here.

"Miss Burkle, you've heard of the Watcher's council haven't you? It was where Wesley worked prior to comeing to Los Angeles. Well, I'm not sure what Wesley has told you, but..." I coughed slightly, "There were some circumstances recently and it is going to have to be rebuilt. With myself heading the orginazation. I've heard good things about you, and was wondering if given a bit more information, you might be interested in the position of a watcher?"
