Mercy and Grace
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are - yet was without sin.
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy
and find grace to help us in our time of need.
~Hebrews 4:15-16
Jesus is our high priest. He not only cleanses us from all our sin but he intercedes for us at the throne of God. He is our Advocate.
He understands what we go through. He empathizes with our struggles, our weaknesses, our hurts. Jesus understands all that we feel. Jesus alone understands. And he cares.
Because we have a high priest like this who has cleansed us and sympathizes with us we can approach the throne of God with confidence. The enemy of our souls may attack and accuse us but Jesus is our advocate. We have free access to our Father. Jesus has erased the burden of guilt and sin. We cry out to our Father. We bring all of our needs to him, big and small. And he hears us. We receive mercy and grace in our time of need.
Because of Jesus, we pray with confidence. Because of Jesus, we pray boldly. Because of Jesus, we pray with freedom.
So come! Come to the throne! Come to the throne of grace! Mercy and grace are found there.
