One of these things is not like the other...

So, in the back of The Eigo Noto 2 there is a random page about legends around the world, with stories/literary examples of all of them. One of them really seems a bit out of place.

See, here's the list (links go to Wiki articles):

I'm pretty sure Peter Pan is German or Swiss or something like that, anyway.

They should have gone with King Arthur or Robin Hood XD

And then led all the children out when the townsfolk stupidly refused to pay? ^_^ Pied Piper.

...Although, considering how often Peter steals children, that's not too far off.

Huh, so that's where that comes from. There's a reference (hell, not even a reference, an entire side-quest) in Okami, a girl who was found in a bamboo plant and ends up blasting off in a rocket ship. -_- Confused the heck out of me. At least it's based on SOMETHING?

It's because ROTK became a thing of legend. So many of the individual stories developed from a mix of history, folktales and folk belief that it has become a thing of legend as well as being (loosely) based on history. For instance, one of the major characters (Guan Yu) is the Buddhist Deity of War.

Thanks for posting this! It's kinda nice to see this take. I agree with your comment on "Journey" in that it's got more myth in it than the others, but all three of these stories have mythological and/or folktale elements.
