Question: "Superstition" connotations

So, people. Does the word "superstition" carry a negative feeling? I was taking pictures of the students in my class and mentioned that I was a bit worried about doing so with the Haitian students because I know it is one of the countries where some individuals believe that a photograph will steal their identity/soul. I think it's generally used in a negative light, yes. Just looking at the definitions on dictionary.com, you can see 'an irrational fear' and 'not based on logic or reason' and 'blindly accepted belief' all of which imply something that no one who THINKS about things will believe. Which may or may not be true. We certainly all follow our own little superstitions every day, whether it's not walking under ladders or not stepping on cracks or knocking on wood or whatever.

But back to the original point, I don't think it's considered BAD so much as just naive and childish. Something you should grow out of or know better about, whether you do or not. My two cents.
