My take on Byron's Merry Men follows, along with random commenty notes. Also musical accompaniment.

Something's happening here.... )

But their ideology is inconsistent and their pacifism skin-deep. It's like it's the beginning of a movement, that hasn't found its voice or its principles. In a way it parallels the Alliance, which is also feeling its way, and would prefer non-violence but is pushed by events into war after war.

Indeed. The issue for both movements won't be avoiding war, but fighting as fairly as they can for authentic reasons, which neither movement has as of yet. This makes me wish we'd seen the telepath war really develop instead of being relegated to the trilogy.

Agreed. The telepath liberation movement is fascinating and would have made a terrific movie or mini-series.

"The phoenix symbol on Lochley's helmet is nice. It feels like a reference to her character being new and yet old."

There's a special feature with Tracy talking about this. Joe had decided to make her symbol the phoenix and when she say it she burst into the room and asked, "HOW DID YOU KNOW?! WHO TOLD YOU?"

Turns out the phoenix is HER symbol and tattoo as well, she had a minor obsession with the mythos.

Why doesn't Garibaldi ask Sheridan why he picked Lochley? Answer: He knows Sheridan wouldn't tell him. That has to smart.

Or that Sheridan giving Garibaldi a straight answer would mean no plot.

Sorry, I really do not like this set of eps. A View from the Gallery is good comedic relief and Bester is always wildly entertaining... but that's about it. :(
