Thank you- i am not a great supporter of war as you know..most of them in my opinion fought for reasons less heady and idealistic than those of the men and women who do the actual fighting. But it is absolutley necessary and appropriate to remember and acknowledge the deaths of so many, and to appreciate that they gave the ultimate sacrifice.
I am not a nationalist, nor do i glorify war, but they were real men and their loss was and sadly is, deserving of our sadness and resolve to prevent such waste again.

I think that's the whole idea of rememberance day, that we are meant to learn from the mistakes of the past and never allow that sort of thing to happen again. If only certain bloodlust politicians would actually take the time to think about it (not that those politicians are capable of thought). I'm not an advocater of war, but I have never felt more proud than when I watched my brother pass out from Sandhurst. I think anyone who is willing to lay down their life for the security of others, even if they don't believe in the reasons behind the fighting, is deserving of our upmost respect.

That's really beautiful. *Sniffles* We just had Veteran's Day here Friday, and I think it must be a different version of the same holiday.

A lovely poem, Ele. Made me tear up, which I frequently do on Veteran's Day here. I share the same sentiment...

I am not a fan of war, who really is? But I could not revere our soldiers and the sacrifice they make for us any more than I do now. May they all be remembered and loved.
