All around me are familiar faces...

Desmond Descant is in the common room, sitting with a chair turned at such an angle that he's clearly visible to all who enter, no matter where someone might happen to enter from. He's doing this for the benefit of one Martha Jones, who has apparently gone out to find him. He's keeping his eyes on the clock, because he knows from reliable sources when she left and if she's gone too long, he's more than willing to start another search party.

It's a horribly vicious cycle.

Across the room, sitting in front of the fireplace is Juliet Burke. Having been a Miami native for most of her life and another kind of native (in a still tropical setting) for another three years, she's never really experienced what it's like to sit in front of a fireplace. It's kind of nice and comfortable and she's rather fond of it. She hasn't felt like being particularly social since she arrived, mostly because the last time she was thrown out of her element and into a group of strangers, it ended badly, so she's more than a little... Wary, the narration supposes, but she's more than approachable if someone so desires.

And sitting not very far from Juliet is Daniel Faraday who has somehow managed to obtain a notebook and is scribbling things in it that wouldn't be discernable to most people. He keeps looking up every so often as if he's making sure that Juliet's still in her chair. Eventually he'll get over that need to keep her in his sight at all times- right now it's a weird compulsory thing and a desperate need for something constant between the two worlds that's kept him following along at her heels like a puppy since they arrived.
