Des is in his room and he was sleeping off the drugs and the pain in his chest from that little event, but somehow sleep is failing him and the drugs are starting to wear off, which might have something to do with why sleep is failing him, but the fact that his mind is racing right now might also have something to do with it.
He died. He actually died. And not even that fake-out, "you'll be better in a few minutes" kind of death. It was almost choirs of angels or fucking hellfire (and it wouldn't matter which, because whatever passes for higher powers in this world don't give a damn about his soul)... And then Martha brought him back and he's somewhere between irritated at her for risking her life for his sorry life and eternally grateful, because he never realized how absolutely scared to death he was of dying before he came so close he could taste it.
Never mind the fact that he doesn't want to leave them. Martha, Mathias, Becky, Kara, possibly someone else who shall remain nameless because Des is in denial. They mean everything in this world to him even if he absolutely sucks at letting them know that, because he might be an emotional open book, but there are some things he's never been able to express... Those sorts of things show in his actions for the most part and it's just... Complicated.
And they get even more complicated when it comes to certain other people- Martha, specifically.
...And right now he doesn't need complicated thoughts. He needs drugs and about a week's worth of sleep to let his fragile mortal body recover from a bullet wound it never should have survived on top of the emotional strain that came before that and is only getting worse.
He also probably doesn't need to be yelled at by certain people who owe him a piece of their minds, but his door just so happens to be unlocked and the narration is firmly convinced that he needs to be yelled at for being an idiot (and a ninny), sooo....
