There's a tall man stretched out on one of the pews in the back of the church.

The church doesn't really have anywhere else to sleep. The pew is hard and uncomfortable, but it's his penance, his punishment for the things he's done and the things he's yet to do. His old army flack jacket is spread over his shoulders, with his dog tags dangling just over the edge of the wooden seat. There's a bottle of whiskey on the ground next to him, three quarters of the way finished. He hasn't left the church in days, and unfortunately, he looks it.

At the other end of the pew, somewhere near his feet, there is a small white bag. Inside the bag are three prescription pill containers, all fresh refills. There is a priest, tending to the things at the front of the altar. An angel of healing, Father Samuels has seen a lot of broken people in his time, but what this particular soldier has, he can't fix. Psychological wounds aren't something that you can heal with a power like his. So he does what he can, refilling the prescription he had been given when Charlie first came into town, and waiting for him to be desperate enough to take them. He isn't sure how long it will take, but he's careful not to push, either.

Above all else, he doesn't want to make anything worse.
