Bela Talbot is sitting in a cafe in the municipal district of Chicago, sipping a cup of tea. Contrary to popular belief, she's actually work, even though she looks like she's doing absolutely nothing. Stealing something that's adjacent to a government building takes planning, so that is what she's doing. Planning. She's really good at that planning and plotting thing.
So long as no one's bothering her, that is.
You should bother her, Chicago. She could probably use it.
On the completely opposite side of the city, Buffy Summers is out on patrol. Turns out ... there's a lot of patrolling to do in Chicago. Currently, she is taking on a troll -- or rather, the troll is taking on her. Trolls aren't very bright, but they're strong. Like, really strong. Like ... lift a Slayer above their head like a rag doll strong.
"Hey! HEY! Nonononono don't -- "
Buffy is now being thrown out into the street, where she's likely to land hard. Thankfully there are no cars coming.
Yet.
And finally, Chicago's newest resident, Sophie Devereaux, is wandering around Chicago looking a weeeeee bit lost. In fact, she's been wandering around Chicago for an hour, trying to figure out how she got to Chicago in the first place. She hasn't been drugged, and she hasn't been knocked unconscious or anything of the sort, but for some reason she's here, and not Boston.
And it's very confusing.
"Well, this is just brilliant," she mutters to herself as she stops in the middle of Grant Park with her hands on her hips. "Congratulations, Sophie, you've now gained the ability to move halfway across the country in a single bound."
Spoiler: That is not Sophie's rift power. As awesome as that would be.
