Aurora has been splitting her time between her apartment and the Kashtta, occasionally going out into the street to patrol but not every night the way she used to. She's become a familiar face at the Tower, passing through the halls, studying the place with mild curiosity ( Read more... )

Wandering in Chicago at night is usually not a wise idea for an average resident, let alone a Wanderer, but Bela at least has a reason to be out. She's just stolen something that no one is really supposed to have, and has a hefty pay day in her future. Right now, she happens to be enjoying her long stroll home. It's not as if she's unprotected.

If anyone tries to get in her way or otherwise harm her, she could always light them on fire.

When she spots Neal, however, she can't help the small smile that crosses her face. "You know, you shouldn't wander in Chicago at night. Tends to get most people into trouble."

he's gotten the warning about going out into the city late at night but that's obviously not stopping. he took the warnings as if they were the same ones you give to people when they're in new york. Granted, he'll admit that it does become a little more dangerous with the whole Rift thing and the fact that he's not on his home ground but he's always been one for taking chances.

"So I've heard," he says with a grin. "But I'm pretty good at getting myself out of trouble. Besides, where there's a little risk, there's always a little fun too."

"This place is riskier than most," she replies, coming to a stop in front of him and crossing her arms in front of her chest. "Though you seem to be handling your transition to Chicago rather well, all things considered."

"I've heard," he says with a laugh. "But I've always been a sucker for high stakes." Shrugging, he leans back against a wall. "I try. There's not much point in freaking out is there? It's not like it's going to make anything better."

She nods. "That may be true, but it still doesn't stop some people. It can be quite a shock to your system. Especially with the sudden lack of legal status."

"Legal status can can be easy to get if you know what you're doing." he grins at her. "Everything else takes some adjusting to but I"m not worried about that."

Has Neal been making papers for Peter and himself? Maaaaybe? Is anyone surprised? Not even remotely.

She raises an eyebrow. "I'd be careful what you tamper with in an alternate universe. Not everyone's legal system works the same."

She's not necessarily surprised, but she doesn't want him to run off and land himself in jail, dead, or worse than that. And in Chicago, it could happen.

"Assuming I was doing any sort of tampering," he starts with a smile. "I'd be more than careful in what I was doing. You know, assuming that I was planning to do anything at all."

He's been doing a lot of research since he got into Chicago. It's been helping him keep his mind off of the whole mess that is his current situation.

"Yes, of course," she says with a nod. "I'm sure this whole situation is entirely hypothetical." She has a feeling it's not. But, you know, that's her. And she's more than happy to keep with her less than legal Wanderer status. It keeps her under the radar.

He offered her a pleased grin. "Of course it is."

She looks back in the direction she came from, then back at her. "Where you heading back to the Tower?" He might offer to walk her back if she was, just to be nice.

She nods. "I just finished work. I'm more than ready to just go back to my room and go to sleep."

That would be very nice of him. Bela would appreciate that very much -- more for the company than anything else.

"I'd be happy to walk you back if you want. I wasn't actually going anywhere anyway. I just wanted to get out for a while."

And she will get him! At least for the next few minutes. He figures walking back to the Tower with someone will be more interesting then walking around alone. Probably safer too.

That is a yes on both counts. Especially when the person you're walking with is a crack shot and a pyrokinetic.

She nods as she adjusts her bag on her shoulder, starting to walk them back in that direction. "I'd like that. Thank you."

Yeeeah, definitely.

"Great." He follows after her, keeping one eye on the city around them as they walk. "So, what were you doing out here?"

She shrugs. "I was working late. I needed to pick something up for my boss." The exact nature of what she was picking up, and more to the point, what she did is up to him to figure out. They don't know each other that well yet, after all.

He arches a brow at her but doesn't say anything. There is curiosity in his expression though. "And are the weird hours just a part of your job or are you getting some pretty good overtime for this?"
