Luna is wandering around Chicago, which is very nice when you've got shoes. She's mostly walking everywhere without them, but there's no students to steal them. There are Nargles, but she's yet to find them here.
For now, she's trying to find Wrackspurts - she hopes they exist in this world too. Armed with a newly made pair of Spectrespecs, she wanders around the streets until she comes across Shawn.
She stares at him dreamily for a few moments, noting his sunglasses before turning her head to stare in the direction he's looking at. "... Are you looking for Wrackspurts too?" she asks.
In fact, he's very, very still. His chest rises and falls evenly, and then he startles up into more of a sitting position, and his eyes fall on the strange girl wearing funny glasses.
Very interesting glasses, but still weird nonetheless.
"Hello!" That's Shawn's greeting for everyone. "Lovely weather we're having."
No, Shawn, that totally isn't a giveaway that you were sleeping.
Luna realizes fairly quickly that he's sleeping, she doesn't seem bothered by it. She just continues to stand beside him and stare into space for a few moments until he wakes up. "Sorry I woke you up, it really is a nice day for sleeping," she says dreamily.
Turning her head to look at him, she lowers her Spectrespecs slightly with one hand and smiles, "Hello," she says before continuing, "Looking for Wrackspurts is very tiring, I suppose. There's lots of people here to inspect,"
Yes, she honestly thinks that's what you're doing, Shawn. Seriously.
Shawn has learned of lots of new and interesting things since his arrival in Chicago, but that is something he definitely haven't heard of before. "No. I can't say that I know what those are."
There's a small, sad frown on her face when he says he doesn't know what Wrackspurt is. But that doesn't mean that they won't be in this world. So she's not going to lose hope in finding them - along with any other kind of magical creature. Besides, she has someone new she can teach!
Luna smiles faintly, "Wrackspurt," she says again, "They're an invisible creature that fly into your ears and make your brain go all fuzzy,"
She motions to her Spectrespecs before taking them off, "My Spectrespecs allow me to see them, would you like to try?" she asks, holding them out.
Luna holds out her Spectrespecs for him to take with a faint smile, "Oh, goody!" she says with an air of delight, "Most people don't want to, if they can't see something's there - they don't want to bother looking for it. I think people can always find something if they really want to look for it,"
She sways on the spot, watching people pass them on the street, "They'll look like a small swarm of little green specs," she says, "And they'll be located about a person's head, desperately trying to get into their ears,"
She falls silent for a few moments to continue watching people before turning her head suddenly to look at him, "I'm Luna,"
Shawn sheds his own sunglasses to put on the new glasses that Luna is handing him, and does his best to open the senses and be receptive. He has to admit, he's a little skeptical that this is going to work, but this is Chicago. Who knows what's floating around?
"I'm Shawn," he says as he starts glancing around. "So what do these Wrackspurts do if they get in your head?"
"Well, like I said - they make your brain go fuzzy," she says with a nod, smiling. "They make a person forget what they're saying, making them lose their trail of thought. Wrackspurts jumble it all up inside your brain,"
"I think Muggles call it something like a 'blonde moment'..." she murmurs to herself, tilting her head to the side.
It's not blondes' fault. She thinks Wrackspurts are perhaps attracted to their hair the most. Because it's like the sun!
"It's nice to meet you," she says dreamily, "Can you see anything yet?"
"Oh?" she raises her eyebrows before grinning, "You must be very lucky that they haven't gone for you!"
"Perhaps you might have some sort of charm on you that wards them off," she suggests. She shows him the Butterbeer cork charm necklace that she's currently wearing, "I wear this to protect against the Nargles,"
"I used to think it was just because I have a really good memory," he says with a shrug. "It's not easy for me to forget things. Kind of a quirk of the brain chemistry."
"Ohh, I see," Luna says with a slow nod, "That maybe also be the case,"
She'll still think he has some sort of charm about him to ward them off.
"I think you would have been a Ravenclaw like me," she says excitedly. It's fun trying to see what non-magical folk would be in terms of Hogwarts house. "Wit beyond measure, is man's greatest treasure,"
"I'm a Ravenclaw," she says with a laugh, swaying on the spot slightly.
"It's one of four houses at Hogwarts, my school from back home," Luna explains, "Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind. Where those of wit and learning, will always find their kind."
She smiles, she does like the Sorting Hat's songs.

Blond moments, he means. Benefits of having an eidetic memory, then sharp training at the hands of his father.
Who he misses more than he will ever admit to, but that's not what's important.

And Luna's just going to forever ramble.

It's a valid question, he thinks.
