She’s cold. Her head hurts. She’s hungry. Really hungry.

But Vicki does her best to push those thoughts aside as she runs. The perks, as Damon called them, weren’t so bad. Maybe it would only get better, though she imagines it would be the latter. The brisk air of the night keeps her hair behind her as she does her best to navigate at such a speed ( Read more... )

"I do not believe the person you're looking for is here."

Hi, Vicki. This would be Castiel appearing in front of you with little to no warning, studying you with a curious look. He's probably scared the crap out of you and there is going to be some kind of violence following, but he's here, and he's willing to explain.

Kind of.

The whole appearing in front of her thing? That really caught her off guard. Enough to make her freeze up and choke on her unspoken words.

"Then where is he?" And that's probably the least logical question, but it's all she manages to stutter out. She takes a moment to swallow the lump in her throat and then let's her confused stare change to a glare.

Progressively, of course.

"Where am I?" She asks eventually, but her voice sounds a lot less intimidating than she hoped it would. It sounds weak and confused and lost. Like she is right now.

"You are in Chicago," he replies evenly. "You fell through a Rift in time and space and have landed here. It is hard to explain, but unless the same has happened to this 'Matt' I do not think you will be seeing him for a very long time."

It's a hard thing to put out there, but he does it evenly and confidently. He's not lying, there is no reason he has to hide the truth.

She stares for a little while, taking in what he just said and processing it repeatedly. She’s trying to make sense of it, but really? She lets her lips twist into a smirk and a bitter laugh escapes her lips.

“Seriously? I need to get home.” Her fear seems to have temporarily subsided, but the feeling of irritation and annoyance hasn’t. She doesn’t have time for this; she really does have to find her brother. The laughter is shortened by the thought and the knowing that whatever this guy was pulling probably wouldn’t stop. There isn’t time to beat around the bush or play games. She steps nearer, her brows furrowing and her voice a whisper.

“Now tell me what’s really going on.”

He sighs. This is a common hurdle with most Wanderers, and Castiel has found that the only thing that works is patience.

More or less.

"I did."

And she takes in a deep breath, running a hand through her hair and looking down. Everything hurt and she was hungry. She was tired, too. And now she was in some alternate-universe? Maybe she did take something without realizing it and everything that was happening was all just some really bad trip.

But she knows she didn't. And maybe it's because she's learned she's a vampire that she accepts his words without more explanation.

"This whole world's so fucked up...I'm hungry." It's a whisper and now both hands are on her temples. Freaking out? Just maybe. "You don't get it, I need to be home. I can't stay here."

"Hungry."

There is a pause as his head tilts to the side again. "You're not human. But not a species I recognize. We must not be for a similar universe."

... Yes, Castiel, way to confuse her more.

Angry Vicki is angry. She could try to be rational and piece this together, but she really doesn't want to. Her brows arch to emphasize her annoyance with this situation, along with the ones back home, and looks him in the eye.

"No. I'm not a human..." But she stops herself from saying any more. She's not exactly sure why, but saying it out loud is weird.

Mimicking his head tilt she pauses, pursing her lips a little. What could he know about her? Was anybody really watching them speak?

She uses the same speed she did to get into this place to get behind him, grabbing both his arms and leaning to his ear, eying the spot on his neck and freezing up all over again.

Castiel doesn't resist, doesn't panic. It's not as though she could kill him, and he's still trying to figure her out. It's an odd kind of stalemate, but when she goes for his neck, it starts to click into place.

"A vampire?" he frowns. "I believe you are the first vampire I've met on this side of the Rift."

She hears what he says, but she isn't really listening. Vicki's focusing, or at least what she considers focusing. He isn't actually bleeding so she hasn't fully given into the idea. She'd lose control, or something like that. And as powerful as she might feel, she'd be a mindless, blood-thirsty monster if she gave in.

But what was she now?

"Yeah. A vampire." Her fingers lightly trace over the spot she's tempted to bite. She leans forward and opens her mouth, sinking her teeth into the desired spot, just barely getting a taste before her face changes.

This isn't how Castiel would have normally handled this situation. Vampires are monsters, and usually he would simply smite them and be done with it, but this girl is a Wanderer, and confused. It isn't as though this simple bite would kill him, even if she did drink more than would be humanly possible for a person to survive.

Castiel isn't human. This bite won't affect him.

So he simply stands there and takes it. It's easier that way.

Vicki does her best to wait for an expected reaction, something that would lead to a physical altercation (she was a monster after all, right?), but finds that she really can't. Whatever Stefan had given her to drink before, it wasn't right. Animal blood had nothing and this guys blood was pretty good.

Really good, even.

While she continues with what she was sure would have been her first murder, her fingers dig into his arms and her knuckles go white in response. She fears him going limp, of losing what she needed to survive right now. Only he doesn't.

He stands there and allows it and lives. She pulls away with black eyes and visible veins on her face, a little breathless but content. Content for now at least. Ignoting the blood around her mouth, she stares at the wound she'd just given this stranger.

"How are you alive?"

His hand slowly moves to the wound on his neck, before glancing back at her. "I am not human either. I am an angel of the Lord."

The distinction in Chicago is important to make.

"This body is simply a vessel -- you feeding on it does not effect my true form."

She scoffs a little, not moving from where she's standing and keeping her eyes on the blood. It still taunts her, so she leans back forward a little bit.

"An angel, huh? I can't say I've heard that one before." She does her best to cast his hand aside. If he wasn't going to die or whatever, then she was going to feed until she couldn't. At least that was her plan. "Aren't angels supposed to protect people from things like me?"

Her sudden playfulness doesn't necessarily bother her. Maybe this always happened after you drank blood - though she was a little lightheaded.

He moves his hand when she directs it, and he lets her continue to feed. It doesn't stop him from speaking as she does, however, just because he's that kind of guy.

"If I let you continue to run around hungry, you would do more damage. In a way, this is protecting people."

Silence is her answer for a while. Until she feels no desire to drink any more - simply because she can't. She pulls away again, almost in a trance this time, but continues their conversation.

"You could just save everyone and kill me." Laughter escapes her lips as she finishes her sentence, leaning against his back and watching the blood on his neck in amusement. "What's your name?"
