Stop, hey, what's that sound? [OTA|MTW]

Chicago is sunny and warm on the first day of school for Looney High. Thankfully, two teenagers are able to take advantage of the sunshine, not being enrolled in school.

Tay, the older of the two, is sitting on the roof of the Kashtta, enjoying the sunshine as she goes over her new Torchwood-provided arsenal. A shotgun (though she misses her old ( Read more... )

Sneaking up on someone who is cleaning their weapons is never a good idea.

Unfortunately for Castiel, he can never not sneak up on someone. It's just how he rolls. So this is Castiel, appearing on the roof of the Kashtta, somewhere in the vicinity of where Tay has set up shop. He looks down at the person there for a moment before speaking.

"Hello, Tay."

Thankfully, Tay left all the actual ammunition downstairs, so when she yelps and whips her head around, reaching for one of the handguns she's already put back together before, Castiel's not in any danger of being shot.

"Fucking hell, man!" she says when she recognizes him, putting the gun back down. "Way to sneak up on me."

"I am sorry. I did not mean to startle you."

Even if there was ammunition, it wouldn't have done Castiel much damage. But it is comforting that he wasn't going to have to heal the hole in his vessel. He also is really sorry about scaring her. Most of the humans he knows are used to him randomly appearing out of nowhere. He takes it for granted sometimes.

"Yeah, it's cool," Tay shakes her head and goes back to cleaning the Kimber. This guy will always be weird, she thinks, but he's not too bad, all told. Even if he kind of creeps her out.

"So, what's up? Haven't seen you around much."

"I have been ... around. I spend a lot of time in Grant Park, usually. Gabriel likes it, and it gives him lots of room to exercise."

And he likes being close to nature. And it gives him a lot of time to think. Lots of benefits, as far as he can see.

"That makes sense." Tay fiddles with the trigger mechanism of her Kimber. She's not sure how she feels about Cas, but she does like talking to him. It's complicated, and she doesn't really like to think about her complicated emotions.

"So, I ended up with a ward," she says casually, starting to put the Kimber back together.

Castiel likes talking to her too. She's not quite the same kind of angel he is, but in way he feels that she still understands the pressures. It's comforting, even though she's so young.

"A ward," he repeats. "For you to protect?"

She understands the pressures he deals with more than most 18-year-olds would, even the angels. Go figure, her family prepared her to be friends with an actual angel of the lord.

"Yeah. It's a guardian thing. Her name's Phoebe." She makes a face, not looking up at him. "Not sure how I feel about it."

"Is she difficult?" Because Castiel sure could relate to that. The first few months with Dean were ... trying, to say the least. "Most people are not prepared for the presence of angels in their lives."
