Once upon a time, there was an alternate city of Chicago, the lovely people residing in it, and many Rifts placing these people into various different predicaments, spanning from the humorous to the perplexing to the utterly heartbreaking. Wondrous different people, of all shapes and sizes. So it has been, and so it will be, for years and lifetimes ( Read more... )

Sam Winchester and Buffy Summers agreed on another official date.

The carnival they went to went off thankfully without a hitch, despite most things turning out disastrously via Rift muckings. But he wanted something a little more official, and nothing slice of normal like dinner and a movie with your girlfriend.

It's nightfall and Sam is waiting for Buffy outside the Kashtta Tower. He's dressed up nicely, and he hasn't noticed yet, but the Rift's latest theme has changed the style of his hair.

As in, it is now shorter and smoothed back.

This was not in the plans. Neither is many of the other things that will befall on them tonight.

When Buffy leaves her room at the Kashtta, she's dressed nicely. A pretty dress, with a sweater to cover her shoulders, and her hair pulled up and back from her neck, but nothing overly fancy. It's the most dressed up she's been in a very long time, and she's very excited to be doing so. Especially with Sam.

When she arrives at the door, however, her life is a different story. She's dressed head to toe in a pretty ball gown, fancy shoes, and her hair is swept up in an elegant up-do. She realizes it sooner than Sam notices his look, stopping in the middle of the sidewalk and turning around, almost as though she isn't sure what happened.

Which she isn't.

She's about to say so as she looks up at him, and she's cut off with a small bit of a smile. "Wow. You clean up nice."

He hears the clacking of heels before he actually sees her. Sam stops in his tracks at the sight of Buffy, his reaction apparent in his expression and the small smile of his own. "Thanks, you... you look beautiful," he says, almost a delayed reaction. And she does, but he is very confused.

The confusion is very much shared, Buffy.

"Uh--" A small laugh. "Are we going somewhere else at the last minute...?"

"I ... don't know?" she says with a bit of a sheepish smile. "This was not my original outfit plan for the evening."

The dress is very impractical. Not good for slaying at all. And add to the fact that the shoes are pretty uncomfortable? And she's starting to get why playing pretty, pretty princess does such a number on the girls.

"Besides -- you're the one who looks all ... dashing."

Sam glances down at himself, and it's about now he notices what he was wearing has somehow turned into a dashing noble-like suit. His hair slicked back, his whole countenance is not at all what he'd planned, either.

"I don't know, either," he says, some of the sheepishness rubbing off on him. "But you do look beautiful. I said that already."

Despite not being sure of what's going on, there's a pull. Telling him to go with it somehow. "Shall we?" he asks, lips curving into the slightest smirk as he opens the cab for her.

=D it's a pretty icon. isaywe_party October 15 2011, 14:56:24 UTC
"We shall," she says with a nod, before following back to the cab. It takes her a minute to negotiate the poofyness of the dress so that she doesn't catch on anything, but eventually she manages to fold herself into the cab in a rather lady-like manner, before inching over so that he can join her.

She has a feeling that really tall guy + a whole lot of dress = one really interesting cab ride.

"Here, let me..." his voice tails off as he moves toward her. Sam is fully capable of being a gentleman. He will be quick to help her with the poofyness of the dress, a task that is not nearly as simple as it may seem. Once he's inside of the cab, most of the poofyness is now on his lap.

Somewhere along the way, the cab will shift into an elegant carriage from the regency period.

"Okay, I officially have no idea what's going on," he says to her, poking his head out of the carriage and... yes, there are two horses at the helm.

Yeah, Buffy doesn't have a clue, either. But there's a big giant grin on her face as she looks around and gets a better feel for the carriage. "Whatever it is -- I really hope it doesn't eat us."

She can officially say, however, that she is not complaining.

Sam smirks at the sight of that grin on her face. "Don't jinx us," he says in a low whisper in her ear, before he steps out of it.

"Milady," he says, holding out a hand so that he may help her out of the carriage. Getting into a cab with the poofyness was a challenge. Sam has a feeling getting out of it might also prove difficult.

He's ready to grab her by the waist to help her down himself. As a prince would.

The grin doesn't change as he extends his hand to her, and she nods before taking her hand and easing herself out of the carriage. Actually, it is easier than the cab -- the door is wider, and while it's a bit more of a jump, it's not impossible.

However, Buffy is accepting chivalry in all it's forms tonight, regardless of whether or not she needs it, so as Sam helps her down, she leans against him with a smile. "Why, thank you, good sir."

His arm winds around her waist as she leans against him.

"You're very welcome," Sam says, leaning down to kiss her. This might not meet Disney's PG standards, but that's alright. The Rift does modify certain things once things fall through it.

And she's looking very pretty tonight.

Buffy thinks that kissing above Disney's standards are always worth it, especially if Sam is the one doing it. One hand wanders up to brush against his chin gently, holding the kiss for as long as she could, before pulling back from him with a smile.

"So. We have a date to get to."

Sam is distracted by the kissing, and it isn't until Buffy speaks that her voice cuts through the haze. He takes a step back before sighing almost reluctantly. "Right! Right, the date," he says, rushing to get to the door first, opening it for her so that she may step through.

The waiters and the patrons already having dinner are dressed as elegantly as they are. It all seems to be something out of a Be Our Guest number, to be quite honest.

Not that she would have minded getting right back into the carriage and heading back to the Kashtta to pick that kiss up where they left off, but ... Rift did get them all dressed up. They might as well see it through.

And then they could pick up that kiss later.

She steps through the door, looking around as they go in and she raises her eyebrows. "Wow. This is ... ritzy."

Oh, Buffy.

Sam will be holding you to that.

He waits for her to step through before following her, and he stops in his tracks as he observes just how ritzy the place is. The server comes to greet them, kissing Buffy's hand, and soon there is a rendition of Be Our Guest, the candlesticks twirling in place until they both find their seats.

... Yes, really.

Buffy sits across from him at the table, glancing around at the dancing candlesticks. Her eyes are a little wide, and she seems like she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

" ... Okay, that's ... okay."
