[open] Howl for me

Dec 29, 2011 22:50

It's a dark, clear night in Chicago, but there's no moon to be found in the sky. There's the typical amount of urban noise, but somehow it feels quieter. Or maybe it only seems that way to Shaylee because she's never been to Chicago- but had imagined that all American cities were louder than this. She's thankful that whatever brought her here had ( Read more... )

Alek's on his way back home.

For once, he hasn't been thrown out of an establishment for picking a fight or anything of the sort. He's had a mellow kind of day, and he's a lone wolf--figuratively and literally speaking--so he doesn't mind walking around alone.

He doesn't know if the same should be said for the girl he just walked past. He kind of stops to do a double take.

Alek lifts both brows at the robes. Not exactly what you see your average teenager wearing. Besides, hasn't anyone told her it's not exactly safe to be out this late at night? "You lost or something?" he asks her, hands still stuffed into his pockets.

Shaylee doesn't walk like someone lost in a new city. She's only got a bit of head turning going on, the slightest bit of sight seeing. Mostly, she's keeping an eye out for danger. She slips past the guy, not thinking much of it, but when he calls out to her, she has to respond, right?

She only turns her head, red hair flying and spilling over her shoulder after the motion. She gets a look at him and is instantly okay with her choice of strangers to bump into. She flashes a little smile before turning herself more fully.

"Or something. I'm new in town."

Alek gets a look at her and is instantly okay with this himself.

He slips his hands further into the pockets of his jacket, tilting his head with an expression that cannot quite conceal his curiosity. It's the robes. It's something about how she doesn't look lost but clearly comes from somewhere else. "From where?" he asks lightly.

"If I may ask."

She lets out a laugh. "Are you really that dense? Accent doesn't give it away for you? I know it's a bit mashed up- school in Scotland, home in England and all, but you've got to at least know the general area, haven't you?" She has too much fun teasing sometimes.

"But if you want me to spell it out for you, let's just call it the United Kingdom and be done with it."

Leon's been living on the street for a few days. He's done this before, though not since he began living with the Bergmans, so not for a couple of years. He's wrapped up in his warmest coat, huddled against the wind with his backpack jammed full of stuff ( ... )

Chivalry is an interesting concept for someone like Shay. On one hand, she is of the mindset that she clearly deserves to be doted on, because she is an important person (or so she believes). But on the other hand, she doesn't need anyone to do anything for her.

So when she hears a voice and the sound of someone running up behind her doesn't exactly make Shaylee feel super comfortable, so when she turns around, she's a little defensive.

"Are you?" She snaps back, snark fully turned on.

Leon practically recoils. It might make sense that by now, he would have learned that not everyone responds positively to his personal brand of chivalry, but that would require him actually thinking about it, and like hell he's going to do that.

"Do I look like I'm lost? Because you sure do," he snaps back, having gathered up his courage again, this time hitting her with his defense mechanism. ...His defense mechanism isn't very good, but that's Leon for you.

"Piss off." She retorts, clearly full of charm tonight. But strangely, she doesn't turn around and storm off. Instead, she steps closer. "This a way to welcome a girl? Runnin' up to scare her, then getting your panties in a twist when she bites back?" She smirks. "Oh, I'm not the girl for you. I don't jump so easy."

Elizabeth goes out for walks at night, not with Peter or Neal, not with anyone. She just...walks. Gets her mind off of things, lets it drift and settle into whatever it wants tot think about.

It's a way she deals with all of this, the Rift, the changes she has had to deal with, all of it. It's a coping mechanism.

Peter isn't entirely thrilled with it, as Chicago is more than a bit dangerous but she does it nonetheless, always promising him that she'll be careful.

She sees the girl from across the street, sees her robes and the curious way she looks at the world. She could very well be wrong but she's not going to take the chance of passing up a Wanderer in need.

"Excuse me," she says, calling out to her with a smile. "Are you new here?"

Chicago is a nice city to walk around in, Shaylee is finding out. And just as she nears an intersection, she hears a voice call out from across the street. Shay turns, squinting to get a good look at who is addressing her. She spots a woman with dark hair and figures that it can't hurt to cross.

"Is it that obvious?" She asks, her Scottish accent spilling out with a little laugh. "Must've gotten myself turned around." She's not quite ready to admit that she's just... appeared in the city. This woman, for all she can tell, is a muggle, and those aren't the types she goes telling any of her secrets to.
