I am so scared I will not get into grad school.

at times I really hate how life after college is such an unbelievably huge clean slate. or, per my feelings right now, an abyss.

hey! I'm really sorry I never got back to your call! I was on vacation for almost 2 weeks and I got your message on the way to my vacation but I accidentally deleted the message so I wasn't able to get back to you. I just got back late last week and then school started for me on Monday so I've just had a free moment right now. I still would love to get together with you whenever possible...it's definitely needed.

You are such a hard worker, I'm sure that you are a lot better off than other people that you are in competition with so just stay optimistic about it!
