I totally agree with you.

In reality, that child is going to sometime touch the light socket and get burnt. It is good to bestow wisdom, but it only works if the child listens.

But in another sense, sometimes you have to take the seatbelt off to live alittle. ;) ...sometimes you just gotta let your hair down, open up the windows and sunroof and be dangerous.

Much less that i had to speed read those debates right there, I find it much more wise not to attempt to prove anything (for if you truly believe in what you know then there is little value for the self in proving it to others) but rather to listen, grow wisdom from all that is said, and lecture at will if the person is one to desire to obtain knowledge. Debating is fun, but nonetheless a game in which one attempts to win by convincing another person of a large stubborn nature of what you yourself believe. Dangerous game sometimes, especially when you play with Lusipher.

Nevertheless, after reading your comment, (Joe), at the end, I must say that if we let them play with light sockets, they wont need to roll down their windows to live dangerously, have their hair standing up (and let me tell you not from wind)and either way will be getting knocked back quite a distance.

As always,

yeah man, There is a time to listen and a time to speak. Im just sick of not speaking. I have not said things sometimes and have gotten walked on. I have also not said things sometimes and didnt try to let people know how things they are doing might hurt them later. I will not sit back anymore and watch people be dumb without saying something. But then again, it is their choice, and we cant stop them. We can pray for them and try to talk to them with truth in love, but we have no power of their will. So it is with kids. Lets be realistic. We cant force them to do anything. We are not them and we will never be able to completely control their every decision. They are gonna screw up bigtime even if we are the best parents this world has ever seen. The kid might so happen to play with the darn light socket and get messed up...but behaviorally speaking, the immediate aversive and pain will make that behavior less likely next time. Its the behaviors that are good at first yet deadly later, the ones we need to really worry

ahh..:) your first point sounds quite familiar.....
As you know i have some problems with some certain person (who in reality is only a prob. because they choose to make me miserable)... and yesterday i felt quite accpmplished ( still do) for not alowing them to run over me. I spoke my mind, spoke in truth , spoke well..... and scared the crap out of them.

new revalation: Step-on-me is not my chosen nick name.

I would say that God, being a perfect being, yet still caring for us while in our sinful nature, would desire for us be become clean. Yet, we , as stubborn little kids, refuse to listen to him despite much prodding... So what we have here would be a kid wanting to stick his finger in a dangerous light socet, parents are telling him not to, he does it anyway ... SO what do you do if the child lives through it and STILL does it again? you , as a parent are not going to allow that child to have access to another light soccet for their own good. (even if they enjoyed the trip to the emergency room) so you will wrestle with the will of that child. and maybe even physically whestle them as to make them avoid it. Jacob's broken hip has slight resemblance to this analogy. man is in sin continually, and we are always speeking of how "God breaks us". .. once we are broken, we will always remember what we were broken for and who broke us. Just like a child, after wrestling that childs will out of danger, procautions are taken so he will not ( ... )
