Mar 09, 2006 09:50

So, last night rivetmike brought home Ab-Normal Beauty by Oxide pang [one half of the Pang brothers] of Bangkok Haunted, the Eye and Eye II [amongst others] fame. It looked a pretty intersteing story I thought and although I have only seen the Eye films with Eye being rather good but Eye II being below par I keep reading great things about these Pang boys ( Read more... )

LOL! I wanted to fall asleep but couldn't and had to watch it until the end even though those subtitles got really stupid. "I know what hear" and "what you feel I same" *shakes head*

If you see 2LDK or Aragami would be a touch as I don't think Jon is gonna give me owt :( Fanks Chico :) :)

I forgot about Dual Project as well, probably cos we're still snot monkeys :o(

Dammit!

I was temped by Ab-normal Beauty a couple of weeks ago in Camden, but didn't have the cash. Did you know there's a stall down there selling original Jap releases? They also sell loadsa cutesy anime thangs. Pretty cool!

I be knowing about the snot monkey stuffs :( Did either of you guys get pain behind and when you move your eyes? Never had that before :( Looked on web and comes up with it being sinus problems/influenza :( Ack. Hope you both feel better soon :)

Have not been in Camden for shopping for ages so didn't know bout that store. They all originals? Oooh one day when the cashola fairy greets me I'll have to have a look-see :) If you want borrow our copy you more than welcome :) xx HUGS

Total and utter originals, the propa Jap releases. Pretty reasonable too, Ab-normal Beauty was £15, same as the price on play.com.

Lemme know if you fancy a wander down Camden anytime :o)

Thats wikkid but also very very bad. There are enough distractions in Camden to take away our hard earned cash! Now that's one more shop for me to pine in!!

I will def let you knows next time I can take an amble and shop in Camden as that would be lots fun :)

Hey! Someone I can bond with about the wonderful experience that is Abnormal Beauty...ha! Charles couldn't manage to watch more than half, but I too felt compelled to see it through to the end, mainly in anticipation of what little gems might come up in the subtitles next (although sadly even that didn't make it worth sitting through...). I agree - the only redeeming features were the occasional bits of cool soundtrack and camera-work, which felt more like music video inserts rather than part of the film.

Sorry to hear you're feeling icky - hope you recover soon. Hot toddies do sound like a good solution. : )

Those subtitles were quite possibly the worst I have ever encountered! Someone I speak to on LJ does a lot of translation on Japanese-English films/mangas and tells me that once you start learning another language watching a film starts to become even more of an effort to not shout at the translators!
It was quite style over substance which was a shame really :( I liked the painting she made in the scene where her GF slaps her. Pity they tore it up!

Thanks much :) Think huge amounts of Hot toddies are on the cards tonight :)
