it's funny how sophistication in any realm tends to sully the pure passion that can be dredged from creations, it does give credence to the very loose manifest of the 30's "just do your art, don't rip it apart,."

but really in the proper mindset vivisection is an artform in itself,..o.0

Very true. Wish I could turn off the analysis portion of the brain at times.

BTW, I watched a bit of American Inventor, and for some reason thought of you.

I have a friend who is a musician and he hears music the same way you do. Funny thing is I never noticed the different parts before until I started hanging around with him. Maybe I should stop trying to dissect the music and just lose myself in it. :P

It's great to be able to deconstruct the components. It would just be nice to able to turn that off. It's like movie critics who can't help but consider the lighting, camera-angles etc.

I'm going through exactly the same thing. Before DJing, I used to love all sorts of electronic music, but now I find myself disecting all the tracks I listen to. The beat is too simplistic, the build-up too generic, the vocals too cliche, the DJ is slightlty off-synch, he switched too soon, blah blah. Unless I hear something inthe very specific genre that I want, I just don't enjoy myself.

I used to go to parties and feel elated. Now I'm lucky if I go home mildly satisfied.
