Paths to Power: Philosophy (6/6)

Aug 07, 2013 20:47

Paths to Power was originally going to be a series of OC guidance posts - just a themed set of guidelines for individual themes. Over time, as the project progressed and we came in and out of delay a few times, Paths to Power went on the backburner, and was of course ultimately unshelved as the series I've been posting.

a lot of the 'paths of power' were focused on magical girls, what about bad guys, demons, ect? Or the magical helper types (tuxedo masks, those dudes from pretear probably tho i missed most of that show woops, fakir ect tho i know you used him before). generally speaking these side-type characters have a strongly different 'feel' than the magical girl. like usually they get a 'sword' or draw evil energy from evil evilly. Even if they may have some technical similarities.

The short answer, which I may expand on in a later post, is that Powers of Darkness get passes on a lot of things because they're innately bad and one of the perks of that is that sometimes your path to power is just a contract with the Darkness ( ... )

These posts were excellent and informative reads! Of course, I have the benefit of being very familiar with the magical girl genre, but I still thought they were pretty clear, my own requests for clarification notwithstanding.

I have no opinions about Pactio, but Powers of Darkness and Magical World posts would be good to have, I think.

These posts are even more helpful when your only exposure is an off the wall mush that long since has gone it's own way, and sailor moon episodes you haven't seen in fifteen years and only half watched even then due to embarrassment.

Looking forward to the wiki going up, more info on the state of the world, etc etc.
