breastpumps?

So, my fiance and I decided to TTC baby #2. We've been trying for a few months now, hoping this is our month! I currently have a 3 year old, who i breastfed for the first month. I really really regretted giving up BFing, but i was sore, we had stress issues regarding him getting laid off, etc ( Read more... )

I did the isis with my first, and pumping was such a chore - I'd have to pump twice to get enough milk for 1 bottle.

With my second, I got the ameda purely yours, which was about $150, and it was so much better! I got so much more milk, I actually had a freezer stash! The purely yours is nice, because it's a closed system, like hospital pumps, which means you can resell (or buy used) because the milk only touches replacable parts (tubing, bottles, horns, etc), not the motor.

I would recommend the Isis to ANYONE who isn't pumping often. It was amazing for me, as far as sucking performance, but, it was NOT something i could do 3-4 times a day, lol! I pumped a good 6oz from both sides combined, in 30 minutes, which I didn't think was TOO bad!

I've definitely had my eyeballs on the purely yours ;D

See, with the isis, at my best, I could get 3 oz from both breasts. With the purely yours, I got 5-6.

I was pretty surprised how much I actually got from the Isis, to be honest. Then again, I couldn't believe my cup size went up 2 cups when my milk came in! If i did that good with the Isis, I'm sure i'll be blown away by the purely yours!

I agree with Emily's rec for the Ameda Purely Yours, but I wanted to throw out the possibility of the Lansinoh pump at Target.com. It's actually the Purely Yours (but rebranded... and lavendar!). It's just under $150, and they have free shipping right now (though obviously you don't need to buy right now). Target.com often has coupon codes for 10% off or so, so if you hang on for a while you can get a better deal -- and of course if you get Target gift cards between now and then it can go toward reducing the cost even further ( ... )

I have definitely been SUPER interested in the purely yours! the medela's even have bad reviews. I hate reading reviews, because some people will buy a 35.00 pump, and expect AMAZING performance, so they rate it horribly.

I'm so excited to give breastfeeding another chance this time around. We've been getting little stuff here and there for the next baby, that can obviously be used for both sexes. I really didn't have a good support system the first time around, so I'm honestly surprised I even lasted a month!

thank you for your advice, and giving me more reason to buy the purely yours :D

I'm 5 weeks PP right now. I tried the Medela Harmony manual pump and wasn't able to get more than a few drops. My SIL gave me her Medela Swing pump and it's an amazing difference! I can now get anywhere from 1-2.5 oz per breast in no more than 15 minutes per breast. I believe it retails for $149.
