Earlier, kaige_of_ct posted this, and the more I look at it, the more fun it is. It's an optical illusion featuring a silhouette of a woman spinning in circles, and the question is, which way is she spinning ( Read more... )

I looked at first: counter-clockwise. Answered the poll...and came back to find her spinning clockwise!

At first I was seeing strictly counter-clockwise motion, but now I find that if I stare at her head and blink she reverses direction pretty consistently...

I can more often than not reverse her by looking only at her feet, or even her shadow. I can't quite figure it out, it is bizarre; her feet switch when she changes direction, but at any given time it doesn't look like that should be possible. Very funky.

OK - this is your sister. I see her going couter-clockwise. I was playing with kids, singing, and she still goes couter-clockwise. i close my eyes, she still goes couter clockwise. i tried one eye, then the other eye. I tried focusing on different parts of the figure. Counter-clockwise. I tried beaking i apart to see how it could appear to go the other way - no luck. For anyone who can see it go clockwise seems suprising - it certainly appears to definitely move coutr-clockwise. I guess y creative side is superbly suppressed (what tiny bit I have) However, it is nice to know that after almost 4 years at home with kids that my logistic/analytical side is still strong.

I will return to it sometime to see if I can see it turn the other way.

Hi sis! Welcome to my corner of blogland.

Yeah, I found the same when I first looked--it was hard to imagine that anyone could perceive it spinning the other way. It's pretty funky. I don't know if it's really about the left brain/right brain thing, but I'd definitely believe you for left-brain leaning, anyway. ;)

As so completely me as this may sound, I quickly realized I could make her flip back and forth by watching her legs. When the spin causes her outstretched leg to join back with the mass of her body, it looks to me as if she simply goes from facing front to facing rear and the direction changes. Now, I can do it consistantly.

Still way cool, though.
