Horoscope for Friday - Politics

Feb 10, 2006 00:50

In general, you tend to be critical of the way the government and politicians handle social issues and institutions. Your goal is not just to be critical, however, you would like to see some positive changes in these areas. The aura of understanding and comprehension in the air today helps you to realize that if you want the world to evolve, you're ( Read more... )

Don't forget you're not allowed to eat prawn cocktail, either. :-P

I think that is a return to the OT rules of kosher; Christians can eat shellfish :)

Oh. Yeah more Leviticus nonsense.
See, that just proves my point.
You absolutely cannot take the precise letter of every sentence in there 100% literally. Especially with over 100 different versions of the Bible out there and that's only in English.

Personally I don't think it's "evil", I just don't think, according to what I've been reading in the bible for the past 17+ years, that it's something God wants us to do. The reason for that is because He wants us to trust Him for/with the future. That's all. :)

See, I've heard all the arguments about that but when you take them in context with a lot of other things, either those passages are talking about something else (Proper Astrology is not guesswork and charlatanism, the same as, say, looking in a crystal ball or tossing bones or reading tea leaves, things that are kinda random), or that still does not address that mortal men in the Bible who did such things without being damned for it at all, the most obvious and glaring example being the quite pious Daniel, chief dream interpreter for Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. And this isn't an Old Testament versus New Testament thing such as half the stuff in Leviticus is, either ( ... )

That said, I occasionally read my horoscope. Not that I'm looking for guidance (I look to God for that) - it's mostly curiousity. (and an opportunity to laugh sometimes) The ones I read are so general that they can easily apply to a very large portion of the population anyway. Other days it's way off base - so I don't take it seriously.

A question I put to an astrologer recently... what does the discovery of a tenth planet do to astrology?

What a great question!

It might in time show a pattern previously missed. Or it may mean nothing at all :)

Interestingly, not a whole lot has changed about Astrology with the addition of other planets into the mix, that I know of. I may be wrong about that but say for example, the typical patterns of behaviour and traits for my own sign (Aquarius) have been fairly consistent in expectation for ages.

I think that in time Astrology will gain more acceptance. The entire set of new age/holistic practices is getting a run with the mainstream and some of it (acupuncture, eating healthy, meditation) is proving to be beneficial. In another 20 years or so, all the things that really do work and seemed so crazy to the right-fielders will be commonplace. And I do think Astrology will fall into that category. The big thing is education--most people don't realize that what they read in the newspaper isn't exactly accurate. However, give that same person their natal chart....

Also, next week, can we do waterwalking on Monday? Want to spend V-day with Jay, preferably not smelling of chlorine ;>
