is it quickest to take the A train out to Far Rockaway Blvd to get to JFK and then take the Airtrain for $5 to get to the terminals? I always go that way and it's not too bad if you grab an express train.

I'm sure it would be because the Airtrain is closer to JFK when you get off on Howard Beach. We took the LIRR (long island railroad) to Jamaica and got off there. You can catch the Airtrain there as well. The E connects there too, so there's many options.. I'll remember the A when I pick up Carrie, and maybe I'll try the E when I pick up my Dad and sister.
