I'm having more luck with the *paid* version of Calendar Checker (and annoyed that I had to pay). Also, the Dayhiker app looks like it will work.
Things are looking up since I've discovered I can run a separate Chrome window with Chrome Incognito mode enabled - which lets me sign in to my personal Gmail, Youtube, etc. accounts there, and not interfere with my corporate labs account. (Labs has locked out Youtube, for instance.)
This was just a really badly handled rollover. Many of the users here are not computer literate at all. Dumping them into something as configurable as Chrome and Gmail - from a locked down enterprise system of IE and Outlook - was just bad news.
THANK YOU!! I was trying to explain to my loving sweet daughter that mommy is NOT just being stubborn....that OUTLOOK calendar has become a great tool in my scheduling/memory life and that any new phone I have MUST MUST MUST be able to communicate with Outlook. I don't care what else the phone does it MUST do that.
I tried to explain it, but you know kids, that ALWAYS know better.....hee hee hee hee
just remember what Oji say about computers....

If you still have Outlook on your computer you can enable IMAP on the GMail account, then access the mail via Outlook. Your Outlook calendar can sync with the Google Calendar using a little program called Google Calendar Sync. This is how I've been doing it in my new job.

There's a program called GMinder that runs on your desktop, and can do pop-up alerts. https://code.google.com/p/gminder/
A search turned up a couple of other options, including calendar programs that sync with Google.
Would running your own calendar app (possibly that syncs with google) be an option?
Good luck.

Google Notifier will install, but only works with my personal gmail; not with corporate.
But I think I'm on the right track now. Thanks!
