My big question is why would they blame the federal government and not their local government? Isn't it the local government's responsibility to make sure and keep the jetties are in good repair?
Sorry I didn't give any information but, these questions have been bothering me.

the new orleans governor yelled at bush for not supplying any buses for evacuation...WHEN HE HAD OVER 2500 THAT HE DIDNT USE, that ended up being flooded by the hurricane katrina
i talked to a man from new orleans just the other day, and actually had a very good discussion with him about this very thing, and i have a feeling first hand experience is going to beat all. He told me that when it all comes down to it it was the local governments fault. And i would like to propose that it was the Peoples fault as well. They had 5 days notice, that a hurricane was coming for them, sure they didnt know all the extremeties of it, but if i knew 125 mile an hour winds were coming my way, i might consider moving out of there way! But the local government is at fault, they have known for years that if a force were to hit those retaining walls, that the city would be flooded. many times over the past several years these hurricanes have narrowly missed. How many times must we tempt fate before we decide to change something, like a better retaining system, or drainage system. Well these are my thoughts, hopefully they are good enough to be kept
many people look for any excuse to blame everything bad on Bush. I feel sorry for the man. I agree that the local government is at fault here--the fed can't oversee everything concerning the states (and if they tried everyone would throw a huge fit about it) I can understand why they want to rebuild New Orleans, but I don't think its a very smart idea either.
Quite honestly, I think Bush reacted poorly because of his comments said.
Did I expect him to go down there and help? No.
Would I expect Kerry? No.
The Senate, Congress and President all failed in the means of help, because they simply didn't react quick enough. They wanted to assess the damage, they wanted numbers, figures. They wanted facts, so they could decide if it was "big" enough.
I think the means taken after by Senator Kerry, and Clinton were profound, thoughtful, and politcally ingeniouse. They wish to have specific things done to make people responsible.
But in the same breath, I think it's horrible for us to sit here and try and point a finger at people when there are still people sitting on thier roof tops waiting for relieve.
This shouldn't have been a political issue and it was made it. Anti-Bush, Pro-Bush, Anti-Kerry, Pro-Kerry, Democrat or Republican we are a nation...we are the United States! One state damaged, is a nation damaged. -ray
what did he say? Also, I heard firsthand from people who went down to Louisiana to help, that the people hit by the hurricane, the people who rode it out on their rooftops, said that they were pleased with what the government did. They were incredibly happy and said that the government was uber supportive.
ingenious* A word like this should probably not be spelled incorrectly, that implies a lack on ingenious, which in turn, makes your points seem much less valid.
As Well,
Relief*- using the wrong word makes an entirely different point all together- something you shoudl watch for.

It has been predicted for years. National Geographic did a huge study on it last year.
