Hopefully New Look will take it down out of their own free will (not likely though.) I don't think Kyunai has any power in this case and will get royally fucked over (as an artist, fanartist or not, usually does) if nothing happens (unless New Look has some shred of dignity and will give her monetary compensation, and even that doesn't seem very likely

It sucks big time for the artist because you're right, she doesn't have any legal right to the work. I guess it depends on whether someone brings it to Shoxx's attention but even then it's unlikely Shoxx would do anything about it because they're not using an actual image from the magazine. In this whole thing I really only see the poor fanartist losing out and that makes me sad/angry too :There's another angle though - PSC are notoriously anal about unauthorised use of their artist's images (ESPECIALLY big earners like Gazette) so they would have a valid case if they wanted to pull the plug on new look because technically they own the rights to Uruha's image and I'm pretty sure that extends to selling a drawing of one of his more popular photoshoots on t-shirts. This is one case where I'm actually glad about their anal retentiveness and I hope they do something because this is just not cool. Shoxx & PSC should team up & kick new look's ass |D

Do you think you could copy and paste and send it to me in a message of what image had been used and what generally happened, if it's not too much trouble? I know almost nothing about fanart and copyrights and this really woke me up I guess which I am thankful for.

oh fucking classy, they edited the entry.

long story short: kyunai (artist) got her fanart ripped off by some designer from new look. chick on gazette_media's like 'lol guys lookit this shirt with uruha' on it and people in the art community got pissed on kyunai's behalf. needless to say, people were talking about it and now the original poster's like BAW WE WERE JUST SUPPOSED TO LAUGH AT IT, YOU NEED A SENSE OF HUMOUR GUYS.
