Inception (prologue)
Sehun/Kai
→ This is my first time writing a chaptered fic because yeah, I don't know how. I'd turn this into a one shot but I really don't know where this is headed yet. Wrote it during class because OTP is much more interesting than history.

Sehun choked on a mouthful of grass and lifted his head only to see darkness surrounding him with nothing but the moon’s faint glow giving him a hazy view of the surroundings. The vast expanse of the forest was right in front of him and now that he was into full consciousness, the muted sound of the waterfall seemed distant from where he stood and it dawned to him that he was alone in a godforsaken forest with nothing but himself to protect him. He brushed off his jeans and shirt and not knowing what to do and where to go, he followed the sound of the waterfall.

He trudged down the forest, dodging branches and cobwebs along the way. After what seemed like an eternity of endless maze of trees, he came across the waterfall that gleamed under the moonlight’s soft glow. Entranced by the ethereal view, he continued staring at the body of water in front of him. His heartbeat increased tenfold when he heard footsteps slowly making its way towards him. He turned slowly, and found himself staring at a boy almost the same age as him but he wouldn’t know because the beating of his heart just got faster.

“Wh-who are you?”

The boy’s lips curled into a smirk and Sehun almost fell and drowned in the water because the boy was just inches away from him whispering, “Would you like to know?”

Sehun tried to sputter some incoherent words for a response but ended up looking directly into the other boy, eyes full of mischief and amusement. He tried to shy away from him but instead, the boy pulled him closer. Sehun pushed him away and the other boy laughed at him, amused.

“Chill. I’m not gonna kill you.” He said.

“Then why-?”

“I was kidding. Gosh.”

Sehun tried to calm his now erratic heartbeat as the boy rolled up his pants and sat at the edge with his feet wading in the water.

“How did you end up here? No one ever comes around here.” The boy said, being the first to break the silence.

Sehun vaguely remembers people taking him away and when he woke up, he was in the forest already.
“I was kidnapped.” Sehun concluded.

The boy made some kind of noise in understanding.

“How about you? What are you doing here?” Sehun asked curiously.

“Well. I kind of live here.”

“Here here?”

“Yeah. Here here.” The boy replied in between laughs.

“Do you want me to believe that you live in the middle of the forest? Alone?” Sehun asked as he raised his eyebrows at him.

The boy lied down on the grass and closed his eyes.

“Yeah.”

“But. Why?” Sehun asked as he inched closer to the boy.

He opened his eyes and Sehun found himself being drawn to the boy’s brown eyes and deep gaze.

“You tell me.” He replied nonchalantly.

Sehun tried to come up with a response but his attempts were futile so he remained silent.

“Want to lie down?” The boy asked as he patted the spot next to him.

Sehun shook his head and the boy repeated, “I’m not gonna kill you.”

Seeing that he was still hesitant, the boy asked, “Do I look like a murderer to you?”

Brown tousled hair, tanned skin and brown eyes stared back at Sehun and he thinks no, he’s actually very attractive. Especially when he smiles. He pushed away the thought and lied down next to him, the vastness of the clear sky all spread out for them to see. He felt the other’s gaze on him and he faced the boy just to check and sure enough, he was staring at him.

He felt his cheeks flush in embarrassment. He managed to mutter, “What?”

“You’re the first person I’ve seen after 2 years.”

The boy prodded at Sehun’s cheeks.

Sehun felt himself flush.

“Your cheeks are soft.” The boy muttered with a small chuckle.

Sehun paid the comment no attention and asked, “Don’t you want to leave? I mean 2 years is a long time. It’s pretty sad around here. You’re all alone and stuff.”

The boy eyed him sadly.

“Even if I wanted to leave, I can’t.”

“Why?”

“Family issues.”

“Huh?”

“My father … He kind of left me here all alone. He made sure I can’t and won’t get out. And no one can see me.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m a disgrace.”

“What?”

The boy sighed.

“Unlike you, I’m not a child of two people who love each other. It was pure lust. No feelings involved. But my mother got pregnant anyway. My father didn’t even know. He found me outside the door one day and that’s when he found out. It was no use looking for my mother because she already fled away from the country. He had no choice but to take care of me. But since my father belonged to an elite family, the press couldn’t know about me. It will stain my father’s reputation. So when I was 10, he brought me here. I used to think before that he’ll come back for me, but he didn’t. It’s okay, I guess. I’m a mistake, so it’s okay to be treated like this.”

Sehun heard a pain in his voice and he almost wanted to give him a hug and tell him it’s okay.

“Oh.”

The boy looked at him. “Some story, huh?”

Sehun can only nod.

“What about you? You must be someone important to be kidnapped.”

“Well. I’m not important. My parents are. The kidnappers wanted money, I guess.”

The boy nodded. “Tough luck.”

Sehun just hummed in response.

“By the way, what’s your name?” The boy asked.

“Sehun. Oh Sehun. How about you?”

The other boy just closed his eyes and said, “You tell me.”

Seeing that he wasn’t gonna tell him anything, Sehun just continued lying down, looking at the vast sky sprinkled with stars and the moonlight pouring down on them. The sound of the waterfall seemed like a lullaby to him and before he knew it, he was falling asleep.

When Sehun woke up, what he saw were bright lights surrounding him.

Groggily, he sat down and his parents’ faces came into view.

“Sehun? Are you okay? Does anything hurt?” Her mother asked.

Sehun shook his head and winced because of the pounding of his head.

“Let me call me doctor.” His father said and he immediately went out.

“Do you want water?” His mother asked again.

“No.” Sehun answered.

“Okay then. You better lie back down while we wait for the doctor.”

He complied and the ceiling came into view. He remembered the boy he spent the night talking to and he wondered if he just dreamt all of it. As if an answer to his question, a slip of paper slid out from his pocket. He reached out for it and read.

Help me, Oh Sehun.
