For the weekend, LUKE CHAPTER 8. This one has something for everyone: parables, weather miracles, hearing miracles and one of my favourite stories, the Gerasene Demoniac.
There's a lot going on in that chapter. Some thoughts:
I heard recently that the number seven was significant regarding the demons that he cast out of Mary Magdalene. Seven being the number of completeness met that she had been completely overcome by the demons.
I've heard an interpretation of the parable of the sower recently that I like in that it refers to how individuals react to the word of God throughout their lives as opposed to singling out different individuals.
I wish it said more about how Mary and his brothers reacted to his comment. Were they confused, hurt, or did they understand?
I wish I had control over the weather. I'd make this infernal heat go away.
I've always been puzzled about why he sent the demons into the swine when they requested that.
Some pretty spectacular miracles in this chapter. I like how he asks people not to mention anything but of course they're going to tell everyone anyway. It's kind of funny.
