It's a shame I'm quite busy today and thus I didn't really have the time to string along the guy who just called the home phone and attempted to convince me that my home computer was infected with lots of malware and that he was calling from the Microsoft Windows Service Centre to help me clear it up. I reckon I should have said "oh no, computers are far too complicated for me, I leave all that to my husband". The rapid-fire typing in the background might have given the lie to that if they'd noticed, though.

I like the "If you could give me a number so I can ring back to verify", or "please stay on the line while we trace your line"....

I did try asking what IP address they were seeing the issue with but apparently that was "personal data" that they absolutely couldn't give out. ;) Yeah, I should have asked for a number that rotwang could call them back on (see my comment above). Next time ;)
