Yeah the RTD era isn't the only one with really bad Daleks stories (although Daleks in Manhattan/ Evolution of the Daleks is definitely one of the worst EVER) and you might want to exterminate me for this but one of the worst old series Dalek stories to me was "Revelation of the Daleks".

Yesterday we watched "Resurrection of the Daleks" and I actually enjoyed it quite a bit but I think probably the best Dalek episode for me is "Genesis of the Daleks".

Anyway I think I might avoid watching "Death to the Daleks" if I can possibly avoid it until I've got no other old school stories to watch!

Haha, not I won't exterminate you for saying that, I know a lot of fans didn't like Revelation. I can understand their arguments, but I still find some enjoyment in it. Mostly because I just like to look at Colin, but that's just me. :)

Resurrection is quite good, I've always enjoyed it. Genesis is also very good, but my favorite is actually one that the fans tend to dislike: Destiny of the Daleks. Dunno why I like it, but I do.

But yeah, leave Death until you've got no more old school to watch. For that matter, I would suggest watching it either drunk or high. It might be enjoyable then!

I really like Death to the Daleks too - I had a fanfriend at school whose sister firmly believed Daleks were literally 'lumps of hate'. The whole thing is like Nation Digest with space plagues, Daleks, shuffling robed mutants. And it's got that brilliant bit where the Daleks test their new machine guns on a dinky model TARDIS. Not only is it not the worst Dalek story from the show's original run; it's not even the worst Pertwee Dalek story written by Terry Nation and set on a planet where the Doctor teams up with deeply uninteresting people who've landed in a space rocket.

That was the one where the Doctor was supposed to take Sarah Jane to the beach but ended up on a planet with Daleks, yes? All I remember is a big city with a puzzle in the middle from it, if that's the one. In short - wasn't a fan, either.

Good: There's Sarah Jane Smith in a two-piece swimsuit.
Bad: There's the swimsuit she picked out...
