Poland Summer 2004!

So, as many of you know, I volunteered two summers ago to teach English at a kids summer camp in northern Poland. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Hands down. Well today I received an email from a former student, just saying hi and that she remembered me. I remember Kasia [pronounced Kasha], she was a beautiful little girl who could barely speak English. Her older brother Pawel [pronounced PawVel] was my little buddy. I lost touch with him, I could never get his email to work, but they sure found me!

Now this is all such interesting timing, since the last month I've been getting back in touch with the other volunteers at the camp! We've been emailing each other, finding out that we're pretty much spread out all over the world! Damiano is in Milan [Italy], Julian is in Brittany [haha, in France!], and others are in South Korea, Bournemouth England, etc. The Memories of that summer are just amazing <3

And since I've never really posted any photos of that trip on here [mainly out of pure laziness] here are some of my favorites:

The cafeteria where every morning, dinner, and supper we ate something either pork-related, cream-related, or noodle-related. I think I gained ten pounds from the food.

BUT these quenched our thirst! haha, the Polish volunteers in this photo [all but the girl on the right] called these shots KAMAKAZIS.

Here is a photo of Pawel and I. He was such a good big brother to Kasia and on the train ride back to Krakow, he stayed by my side when I thought some douchebag Polish guys were targeting me.

We played lots of games, including one where boys dressed up as girls. One was definitely not happy about it!

Instead of marshmallows, Poles roast sausage. Fitting right?

And finally, the last two pictures. Near the end of the camp, the kids put on a show for us. They dressed up and did various sketches. Well, in the middle of the last sketch, THE RED TEAM played a mean trick on us volunteers.

THEY CHASED US AROUND THE CAMP AND JAMMED US!

To Say the Least, I was pretty happy :]
