Nazis, right? Dead Nazis? Remains of something horrible hidden underneath the surface of something people enjoy. Maybe something personal, maybe something more widespread. Nazis are like the ultimate stereotypical evil. Something everyone just immediately acknowledges as straight-up BAD. It's hard to tell in context whether the cosplayers represent friends or just the public at large, but it's likely the latter since you didn't mention any specifics about the crowd. They poked around but you never got the chance because you'd have to go underwater -- water being a blahblahblah psychological film school sign of change and rebirth.

You feel like there's something unpleasant, to the point of being straight-up bad, being unearthed in an area that you considered benign -- likely more social circles than a literal place. People at large are having a good poke around, but you haven't taken the opportunity because doing so would mean you'd have to risk some sort of personal change

TBH I never analyze dreams unless someone asks specifically, because a lot of times people end up telling me all sorts of shit they likely wouldn't want anyone to know and don't realise it. Double-bad when they turn out to include something about mutual friends and/or myself.
