Taking notice?

I've seen a few first time moms worry that people won't be able to tell they are pregnant compliments of their fluffy physique. And I joined the chorus of people who assured them that usually as you approach the third trimester at the latest people get brave and start broaching the subject with you. This was based on my personal experience with my ( Read more... )

Some people are scared to say anything in case the woman ISN'T pregnant and offend the person they asked.

Oh yeah, I figured that. I try to wear clothes that highlight my pregnant shape for that purpose so they don't feel like a heel if they ask me. Though I have had people give me funny looks in an ultrasound office that ONLY does OB, in BabiesRus aisles as I'm lusting after a pillow or stretch mark cream, situations where it's quite likely I AM pregannt LOL.

Oh, absolutely. I never say anything to anyone, even if the girl has something resembling a beach ball under her shirt.

It just seems safer, after having once assumed a woman was pregnant and she wasn't and I died of embarrassment. (Thank God, I didn't say anything to her but I did mention it to her son, who I *know* told her about it after.)

I had twins the second time around...so I got freaking huge...and people still didn't notice/realize I was pregnant when I was 37 weeks along!

Most people just see fat woman and don't make the jump to pregnant fat woman. After all...fat women don't have sex.

That's right! And we certainly don't reproduce and have families! I could write a book on my experiences with people abroad when traveling with my husband, who is thin. (see icon). *rolls eyes*

sure it does! :) We all think so, dont' we?
I've noticed that people won't ask anymore for fear that they'll offend someone. My mom has been asked on several ocassions. She's not pregnant.. she just never really lost her weight from when she had my brother and her tummy is pudgy.. same with my boss... it's just round. I gain all over when I'm pregnant.. so until I'm near the very END of my pregnancy... I'm sure people just see me as overweight.. and that's ok. i know different... I mean sure, I was overweight to begin with.. but... there are days that I'll poke my belly out and walk kinda funny just to prove a point.. lol. haha

I wear shirts that REALLY emphasize my belly. Some people can tell but most seem timid. And if it comes up that I'm pregnant and they couldn't tell I can tell because they act very awkward lol.

I really wanted to be smaller when i got pregnant a 2nd time but i didn't. I am a little sad about it. I never showed at all when i was pregnant for my daughter. What made it really hard was that a fellow coworker was also pregnant, and only 3 weeks ahead of me and she looked so cute and pregnant. Now this pregnancy i am already weighing what i did at my daughters birth and I haven't gotten any taller...I'm only 5 feet and i weigh like 259...its horrible...hopefully after this baby is born something will just connect and I'll finally figure out what worls for me to lose weight...then MAYBE I'll look pregnant when I'm pregnant with baby #3

I just have to keep reminding myself that the important thing is that i have a baby growing inside, i like to think its more comfy and warm with my extra cushioning...

I was 243 @ my last prenatal visit last Wed and I'm 2 lbs down from my pp weight this time. With my first I was probably about 230. I dunno exactly because I found out late. What's weird is my clothes sizes are smaller even though I'm heavier. Go figure.

I'm a SAHM so I don't have to endure the thing woman who's also pregnant, but I do sometimes have pangs with birthing coms by month because when they show their belly pics it seems MUCH more obvious. But in the end if we're blessed we all are lucky enough to have our own baby and that's important most of all.

I too hope to shed some bulk if I decide to try again. (I kinda suspect I'll want one more but then I get stuck wondering if three is a good number?) Anyhow I'm just trying to hold it together long enough to handle the two LOL.

Yea I'm a SAHM now too for the most part, which i think has helped with the weight gain. The winter really kept me off my feet...in the house. Sooo excited for spring! This time around i only know only one other pregnant person and she's about 5 weeks...I really love having a pregnant buddy, i feel it helps me get more excited about be pregnant.

Thats awesome that you are heavier yet smaller. I'm a little jealous. :)

3 may not be a good number, but 4 is!

I'm experiencing something similar. I got TONS of comments from strangers with my first pregnancy during the late 2nd trimester onward. I'm nearly 30 weeks with my second and I don't think anyone's said a thing. I think subconsciously I'm trying to hide it more this time. My son's 17 months old and I think part of me doesn't want to be viewed as little more than a baby-maker.
