Supernatural...on HBO?

Feb 22, 2008 19:16

I swear to god, one day soon, I'll post chapter four of the fic, but in the meantime (seriously, I'm working on it), IN THE MEANTIME, I have a diversion (don't I always? I'm like the pusher in the high school parking lot). I was having a discussion with catdancerz about what Supernatural would look like if it was an HBO product instead of a CW one, and we ( Read more... )

HBO would be fine with me. Because I am quite sure more than "Son of a bitch" is said routinely as a Winchester. Sometimes I think that the boys cuss a blue streak all the time. "Hand me the fuckin' catsup." Sometimes I think most of the language would be in the heat of the hunt. But either way, it would be more than "hell, bitch or damn" of that I have no doubt. It would be sexier and steamier too. I am not sure my ol' ticker could take much more of that but I would be a willing test subject. The one thing I would not like about HBO SPN would be the violence. To me, this show is pretty violent and graphic now. Old ladies getting pummeled, Gordon getting decapitated with wire, women getting beat to death because of shoes. It is not over the wall for me now, but my ick factor is maybe lower than some folks. I can read about the ick, but typically I don't want it smeared all over my tv screen.

So in closing. More sex - good. More cussing a blue streak - good. More grossness - not so good

See, I think HBO is more about the creepiness of violence rather than the cartoony-ness of it. So while it might be less bloody, I'm sure it would be more horrific. For example, if Dean got shot in the arm (like, if that were to happen, just try to imagine it, I know, hard) but if Dean got shot in the arm, he'd have a sore arm for like WEEKS afterwards.

I do have a fairly high tolerance for violence, it's true.

And if it were like The Sopranos, I don't expect we'd see the violence towards women drop anytime soon. Or to men. Both.

For one there's be a lot more sex if this was on HBO. :)

Okay that's all I came up with.

You know, if it was HBO, there would be man on man sex. Look at Oz. That's all I'm saying. And long silences. Punctuated by swearing.

Cool!

I'm picturing Dean using his sexassness to his advantage when sharking someone at pool. He bends over, slides the cue through his fingers, caressing it with loving strokes, then licks his lips and catches the lower one between his teeth as he focuses on his shot...and the guys he's playing against are so mesmerized by how hot he is, and how his ass looks in his jeans that they can't remember their own names, let alone whether they were solids or stripes. *g*

*fans self*

And if they're really, really lucky? Once he's got all their money, he'll take one of them out to the Impala for a quickie. Oh yeah.

ETA: What am I thinking? *smacks forehead* He'd take both of them out to the Impala, of course. Duh. *g*

It's a good thing, HBO, I tell ya. It's like fanfic, except slightly more violent! I wonder what the women would be like if it was on HBO, though?

If Supernatural were produced by HBO, we would have had something akin to The Night Country instead of car crashes and dead papas. That's my story, literally, and I'm sticking to it.

And THAT, my dear, is a GREAT story to be sticking with!

eep - I don't think I'd be able to handle watching that on screen. Sam/Jo was hard enough. But even if that wasn't the case, I don't think Kripke and co. would be able to make it anywhere near as good as your story. And I can't even imagine how they'd handle the aftermath.

The basic idea of Dean and Sam+cooking makes me soooo happy. And Dean would freakin' adore Iron Chef. All those huge-ass knives, and the kitchen torch. Especially the kitchen torch ("Dean, you can't make creme brulee in every single battle.") Sam would have problems, though, because he'd constantly have to fight the urge to correct Alton Brown on obscure food lore.

Can't you see it? Dean would eviscerate the competition, the judges would be FREAKING!

TOO funny for words.

That Iron Chef dude would be toast.
