I just got a summons to appear in court in San Diego...for a child support hearing. Now keep in mind that I have not been allowed to see my children since 1999, and that I lose $174 every pay check to them and I am paying for health care that they can not use since I do not know where to send the cards. As I mentioned last night, you need to talk to a lawyer ASAP, preferably one that knows California law. I don't know how such things work, and you need to become an expert in them relatively quickly.

The situation is complicated, Anakin and Mare need to be recognized as current financial responsibilities, and the fact that your ex is committing fraud should also be addressed (and let's throw in proper motions for a divorce since the worm-can is open).

I'll poke around and see if I can find any useful info for you. You might also want to post to PMM's offtopic list, asking for help, because a huge chunk of it's members (including the mods) are in San Diego. Heck, one of them might even be a lawyer. You don't need to go into graphic detail, but it seems silly not to ask.

Oh, and start organizing all your vital documents now. Paystubs, tax returns, Anakin's birth certificate and so on. It seems to me that legal matters always require as many of these things as you can organize.

Good idea. Renting a car would be cheaper than going Greyhound, and it helps one gets there and back with minimal fuss. (The bus is about $90 RT, and it takes about 7 hours each way to get there. The schedules aren't really feasible without adding an overnight, and I doubt Darkwolf wants to add either a hotel stay or an evening in the bus terminal.)
