Title: Wedding
Author: Redeim
Pairing: SeungSung
Summary: Part two of Denied. DaeSung goes to his sister’s wedding and sees his parents again.
Random Notes: I debated writing this from the moment I mentioned it in the last part. DaeSung’s PoV
Sorry it took so long, also. I wrote it over Thankgiving Break, but it turns out I had no internet access like, at all. =/
I told my sister I was really nervous about going to her wedding, and she told me to invite the band, but I was still ring bearer. It helped me relax a little, and all of us had fun looking through tuxedos and looking forward to the day off we had for the event.
I had to be there for the practices, and in the process, I managed to avoid my parents because I only had a small part.
They avoided me, too.
The day of the wedding, I don’t think any amount of encouragement from my band could have settled the butterflies in my stomach. They had to encourage me to eat something, but I could only pick at my breakfast. I didn’t know why I was so anxious, and I couldn’t help but wonder how nervous my sister was.
When we entered the church, the only people I saw in there were my parents. I held onto SeungRi’s hand, and he patted me on the shoulder encouragingly, giving me a small kiss on the cheek. I went to the back, where my sister was supposed to be, passing my parents quickly with my head low, SeungRi’s hand still in mine. I catch a glimpse at them and see they’re eying not my face, but my hand, my hand in my lover’s.
I knock on the door and my sister tells us to wait a minute. I glance around, seeing my parents conversing quietly with each other as GDragon and TOP bug the hell out of them; sitting across from them in the aisle and kissing each other. I smile, almost wishing I had that sort of nerve. In their own weird way, my hyungs were sticking up for me. TaeYang shook his head, a sly smile on his face, and looked over the piano and front of the altar.
The door finally opens and she pulls me and SeungRi in before giving me a hug. She looked at SeungRi, then at our hands, and mouthed an “is this him?”
I nodded to her shyly.
“He’s cute.” She told me, surveying our youngest. He shifted nervously and my sister gave him a light hug. “Thank you for coming to my wedding.” She told him.
SeungRi smiles and bows quickly, “Thank you for inviting us. We look forward to it.” He told her politely.
My sister smiles and pinches one of his cheeks before patting my shoulder, “Good choice DaeSungie. He’s really sweet.” She tells me and I can’t do anything but blush and smile at her. SeungRi acts the same way I do, lowering his head.
“Get out now; I need to finish getting ready.” She tells us as she motions us out, and the two of us go back outside.
Back in the other area, a few more guests have arrived, so our leader and the eldest are behaving and TaeYang is talking with the piano player. Before SeungRi and I managed to begin talking, my sister calls us back to the door.
“I want you guys to do me a favor.” She begins.
“What is it?” I ask her. SeungRi listens curiously.
“My husband I were talking and we think we want Big Bang to sing Together Forever at the ceremony. Can you guys get your band to do that for us?”
“S-Sure,” I stutter, my mind wondering how well I would do with my parents watching me right in front.
My sister shoos us out again and I bring the band together and tell them my sister’s wishes. They agree and we let ourselves get hyped up.
When it’s time for the wedding to start, I catch at glance at my father, who gives me a look before holding his arm out for my sister. I swallow tears and force a smile to everyone. Just like I was supposed to. SeungRi catches it and gives me an encouraging smile. I smile back at him, returning with a warmer smile.
My sister comes out and I can’t believe how beautiful she looks. This is her dream day, and I scold myself for letting my parents make it awkward. I do my part and the wedding goes without a problem. Everyone liked the make-shift acapella version of “Together Forever”, even the other members were proud of how we did.
But at the after party, my parents finally confronted me. I grabbed SeungRi’s hand, needing the support.
“DaeSung.” They started curtly. I bowed to them uncomfortably and SeungRi bit his lip.
“We have been talking, with each other and with your sister.” My mother explained with the frown on her face increasing as she eyed SeungRi. I shifted from one foot to another, leaning gently on SeungRi for support.
“We can not accept the lifestyle you have chosen. Though your father and I hope to not see you until you decide to come back with a girlfriend, we can not stop you from staying with your sister.” She looked me over, and I bit my lip to stop myself from crying. They didn’t want me seeing my sister either?
“I hope you are happy with your decision, and our door is open to you when you decide to change your mind.”
They’re about to leave when I let frustration blind me. “For your information…” I start in a low growl, and they both turn around. SeungRi looks at me curiously, but still doesn’t say anything.
“It’s not a “lifestyle” or something that can be changed. I’m sorry you don’t like that I fell in love with a guy, but I did. If you can’t accept it, then I don’t think I want to go home. I am in love and you should be happy for me, but instead you are denying me.” I bit my lip to try to stop tears and my parents looked at me curiously. I took a shaky breath, and SeungRi rubbed my back supportively. “I think… If you won’t accept me as your son simply because I am in love with someone of my own gender… Then I won’t accept you as my parents.”
I glance at them through tear-stained eyes and I can see they’re shocked. I turn away and see my sister, who glances away and pokes a fork into her wedding cake. I let the tears fall as I watch my parents congratulate my sister on her wedding, and they leave. I bury my head into SeungRi’s shoulder, and he brings his arms around me, the other members joining in for a group hug. My sister comes over and the members give her room, and I look at her before cuddling into her shoulder and apologizing for letting this happen at her wedding, when it’s supposed to be a happy day.
She shushes me and holds me close, telling me it’s alright and she just wants to see me happy again.
It takes a few minutes before I calm down, and she lets me go. I clear my tears and give her a small smile.
“Come on DaeSungie, you want some of the cake?” She asks me softly.
I nod at her, my smile widening. The other members join us and we enjoy cake together.
I still have my sister… I told myself comfortingly, smiling at her as I congratulated her new husband. I like him, he was really nice, and he would be good for my sister.
I still have family.
