Once Dr. Lee left, GDragon sat down on the empty bed he could only presume to be his.
“What are you in for?” The older one, Haneul, asked.
“Cutting…” GDragon replied quietly.
“What are you, a wimp? You gotta go for something big.” He proudly showed a gruesome scar.
GDragon raised an eyebrow, “Gun?” He asked as if bored. “So overrated,” He replied, waving his hand as if dismissing it. “Lemme have the remote to the tv,” He added, motioning for Haneul to give it to him.
“Listen kid, I’m the boss here.” Haneul growled. “Whatever I say goes. Whatever I want to watch, we’ll all watch.”
“How old are you?” GDragon growled, “Five? Give me the damn remote.”
“You’re the newbie here, don’t get smart with me.”
GDragon stood up and walked over to Haneul, “You are the newbie, I don’t care what you think, and I don’t care how old you are. You can’t be older than 20, or else you’d be in an adult ward. Stop trying to act tough, because if you are older than me, it’s by months. You don’t scare me, so give me the damned remote.” He demanded, getting into Haneul’s face more and more with each word.
Haneul stood up, revealing he was at least a head taller than GDragon, “A little puppy with a bark, how cute.” He grinned, patting GDragon on the head.
“I bite too.” GDragon growled, shoving the hand away.
“Listen flea bag, what I say goes.”
“Listen dummy, what I say goes.” GDragon repeated.
“How interesting... You’re from Big Bang, aren’t you? How would fans react to you being here.” Haneul threatened.
“Don’t’ care, they wouldn’t believe you. Besides, you won’t be able to tell them.” GDragon smirked.
“Why not, puppy?”
GDragon launched a punch into Haneul’s face and brought him to the floor.
Dr. Lee rushed in, “Why are you fighting?” She yelled as two of the nurses pulled the boys apart.
“He’s an asshole.” GDragon growled.
“JiYong! Do you get along with anyone?” Dr. Lee asked, distressed.
“I like that kid, JaeKi. He’s quiet, and doesn’t argue.” He replied with a grin.
Dr. Lee nodded and let out a laugh. “Alright… I get it… You don’t get along well with others. Come on.”
The nurse let GDragon go, and the boy took a fake jab at Haneul before following Dr. Lee out.
On the walk to his new room, Dr. Lee looked at him and laughed, “You’ve changed quite a bit.”
“How so?” GDragon asked curiously, looking up at her.
“You’ve gotten stronger. I was worried we had let you go too soon, but I see it wasn’t as big of a mistake as we thought.
“I still hate this place.” GDragon shivered, and he wrapped his arms around himself. “I never wanted to come back here. But…” He looked around. “It’s changed quite a bit.”
“After you left, we worked on reforming the place. Your case brought to our attention the negligence of the hiring staff, as well the problems going on under our nose. We’ve been doing a lot to reform this place, and this is actually the first year it’s really noticeable.”
GDragon nodded and was about to say something before he was stopped in his tracks. A door ajar brought back a flood of memories; his old room. He felt dizzy and nauseous as he stepped closer to Dr. Lee.
“Come on, that’s not where you’re staying.” Dr. Lee herded him away gently. She brought him to a hospital-like room.
GDragon scrunched his face up, “It’s so… plain.” He whined, it was similar to the other room.
“If you look around, we’re testing you.” Dr. Lee explained, and sure enough, there were scissors with the pens and pencils, some paper, as well as a few other relatively sharp objects.
“If necessary, we’ll do what we did last time, and take things away from you. If you can behave, then you can do what you wish with these.” She explained.
GDragon lay down on the bed, feeling cold and nauseated.
The night brought a whole different side of GDragon. Memories of the place brought about shakes, and he ended up spending half the night in the bathroom feeling overwhelming sick. When he finally got peace from his nausea, the sun was peaking over the horizon, and he lay in bed, exhausted but not able to sleep.
Dr. Lee looked at him sadly, shaking her head. “The memories of his past overwhelm him,” She explained to the nurse on duty for the day. “He’s not sick though. Don’t’ give him any medicine except simple things, Tums if he needs them, maybe some Tylenol. We gave him some sleeping pills to help him relax, let him wake up on his own, if he does manage to get to sleep. We aren’t worried about his sleep schedule right now, just that he gets some.” She continued.
“But… Lee-sshi, what… happened to him?” The nurse asked softly.
“His files are in the office. But he’s been here before and it wasn’t… Well, it wasn’t as therapeutic as we had been hoping. He is the reason the office began reforming five years ago.” Dr. Lee explained.
The nurse nodded and looked past Dr. Lee to GDragon, the even breathing suggesting the boy had finally gotten to sleep.
“Where is Umma-sshi?” GDragon demanded later in the afternoon.
“Who?” The nurse asked, bewildered.
“Dr. Lee! Where is she?” He growled, clenching his pillow tightly. “She was supposed to be my only care provider! Where is she?” He demanded.
“She’s at home! She doesn’t work until tonight.” The nurse tried to explain.
GDragon shook his head, tears beginning to fall down his cheeks. “Bring her back, I don’t want anyone else.” He cried, curling into the pillow.
“She comes on at five!” The nurse tried to tell him.
“Dr. Lee, we can’t get him to calm down.” The nurse said desperately into the phone.
“Who?” Dr. Lee asked.
“JiYong; he keeps asking for you, he won’t accept any other nurse.”
The nurse could almost see Dr. Lee nod. “I’ll come in early. This is completely understandable from JiYong.”
“Dr. Lee, I’m sorry. I tried to handle him on my own…”
“Don’t worry; I was afraid this would happen.”
“JiYong, what is it? Don’t I get time off?” Dr. Lee joked as she came into the room.
“You’re my only nurse.” GDragon replied stubbornly, tears dried.
“I need time to sleep too, silly. Come on, lay down and relax.” She said, gently pushing GDragon down. She brushed a hand though his hair, “Calm down, I’m here.” She told him gently. She shooed the other nurses away.
“I’m scared of here, Umma-sshi. I don’t want to be alone here.” GDragon requested gently, a sense of urgency apparent.
“I’m sorry, JiYong. I’ll be here. How do you feel tonight?” She asked him.
“Sick…” He replied quietly.
“Have they let you do anything today?” She asked him.
GDragon shook his head. “I woke up two hours ago, and I haven’t moved.” He explained.
“Do you want a shower or anything?” Dr. Lee asked, not meaning to use *the key word* but knowing he probably wanted to be clean.
GDragon began shaking, curling into Dr. Lee’s side, “No… no, no, no, no…” He muttered, tears once again falling.
“Calm down,” Dr. Lee told him patiently, gently pulling him away from her, “You can go on your own. I’ll be right outside if you need anything. It’s okay.” She told him.
GDragon still shook his head, burying his face in the pillows.
Dr. Lee smiled, “You remind me of my son.” She told him honestly.
GDragon turned his face and looked at her curiously. “Your… son?” He asked quietly.
She nodded, “He was about your age, tough like you. But, both of you require a lot of protection.”
“Was?”
Dr. Lee nodded again, “He committed suicide when he was 17. He’s the reason I changed my profession from physician to psychiatrist. I wanted to understand what caused him to turn to suicide.” She turned to him, “He was just like you, turning to cutting, among other things, only when he was happiest.”
GDragon remained silent, looking away.
It was a week later when GDragon had finally let the place shine through his memories of it. Dr. Lee had allowed him a laptop, and he also was able to go out for the day.
“Where do you want to go?” Dr. Lee asked him.
“Coffee~” GDragon replied, practically singing his excitement.
Dr. Lee smiled, “We have coffee here, you should have said something.”
“No, real coffee. Starbucks please.” He replied childishly.
“Alright, let’s go then.” Dr. Lee said with a laugh.
Once back, Dr. Lee left him to shower and change as she called GDragon’s manager. “Hello, I am Dr. Lee from the psych ward JiYong is currently in. I’m proud to say he’s ready to go home.” She smiled as she explained to the manager GDragon had been going through counseling and had been behaving well.
“I’m glad to hear that. We were all beginning to get worried.” The manager replied excitedly.
“There is one important thing, however.” Dr. Lee continued. “I arranged to have counseling session with him every week. The time is your choice, but he must come to them.”
“Yes, of course. Um, when can we pick him up?” The manager asked.
“Anytime,” Dr. Lee replied.
“I get to leave already?” GDragon asked, the smile seeming to stretch ear to ear.
Dr. Lee nodded, “Your manager just arrived, and your band is anxious to see you.” She told him. GDragon rushed past her to the lobby, immediately going to TOP’s arms.
“Hi to you too,” TOP replied, a smile apparent on his face as well.
“YoungBae,” Dr. Lee called to the young man, summoning him over.
“How was he?” TaeYang asked.
“At first, he was very… engaged in memories. He spent a lot of the first couple days feeling sick and tired. But he’s doing better, and through out being here, he hasn’t cut once. We’re going to keep him in counseling session, but you.” She smiled at him, “You did the right thing to get him help so fast. You’re my right hand man in this.” She patted him on the shoulder. “You do a good thing, caring for him so much.”
TaeYang smiled, and turned to GDragon, SeungRi and DaeSung giving up on greeting their leader as said leader began making out with TOP. “When all this started, GDragon told me he wished I wouldn’t care so much. But really, we’ve known each other so long, I can’t help it.” He told Dr. Lee.
“And that’s perfectly natural.” Dr. Lee assured. She smiled, “When did he get a boyfriend?”
“About a month and a half ago,” TaeYang grimaced.
Dr. Lee laughed. “I’ll let you all go, your manager signed him out already.”
TaeYang nodded, “I hope this is the last time we meet like this.” He said, holding out a hand.
Dr. Lee took the hand and shook it, “But not the last time we meet.”
