“Happy Anniversary!” The crowds cheered.
But all TaeYang heard was a call from backstage, “HyeMin! No, come back here!”
And he turned in time to see his four year old daughter coming on stage, a huge smile across her face as she didn’t get what it was she was doing wrong.
“Daddy, I want cake too!” The child cried out, excited at seeing the anniversary cake; and TaeYang felt like it was the loudest voice in the auditorium.
He felt his breath catch in his throat as he gave her a smile. He saw the rest of the band freeze to.
Lexy remained backstage after assessing the situation, knowing it was better to let one hurdle go before creating another.
TaeYang glanced to his fiancée, giving her a small nod as he picked up their daughter, its okay.
“Who is she?” A fan called out from the front row, and TaeYang took the mic GDragon offered him, clearing his throat. “How many heard what she said?” He asked cautiously, seeing hands rise in the dark crowd. This kid is loud… He groaned, glancing to his daughter. He bit his lips before deciding what to say next.
A different fan helped him, “Who’s the mother?”
“Uh…” TaeYang started before his daughter stole the microphone.
“I like singing, can I sing daddy?” She asked, looking up to her father with wide eyes.
“Not now, HyeMin.” He scolded, trying to get the microphone back.
She looked like she was about to cry, and TaeYang sighed as the second woman in his life once again got exactly what she wanted. He set her down and she began singing an interesting rendition of “Look Only at Me.”
The fans forgot their question for the time being, and the concert went on as (not) planned as HyeMin joined in half the remaining songs.
TaeYang knew it wouldn’t be so easy for the press though…
“I don’t know how she got out, I’m sorry TaeYang,” Lexy told him apologetically.
“It’s okay. They don’t know who her mother is, so we’re still okay,” TaeYang replied, his thoughts jumbled.
“You have a press conference tonight, don’t you?” Lexy asked, tilting her head to the side.
TaeYang nodded.
TaeYang looked to GDragon, as if staring at his friend would give him support. He smiled softly as GDragon gave him a thumbs up, and he turned his attention to the media.
“Who is the mother of your child?” One of the media men asked.
“Uh… An old friend of mine… No one knows her.” TaeYang lied.
“There are reports we saw Lexy with a child that looked a lot like HyeMin. Is Lexy the mother?” Another asked.
TaeYang’s heart leaped, “What? No!” He tried, but his emotions gave him away, and he cursed himself for making it so obvious as people looked at him curiously.
“How old is your daughter?” Another person asked, breaking the silence.
“Four…”
“I will not allow this! Big Bang is at an important phase right now! You’re getting bigger than DBSK!” The manager yelled.
“I was doing well hiding it before, manager! This will blow over! Calm down!” TaeYang cried back. “I’ll keep HyeMin out of the spotlight and it will calm down, okay?”
“No, you need to separate yourself from Lexy and HyeMin until this situation calms down.”
“What?” TaeYang asked, feeling faint.
“Do I have to repeat myself?” The manager said firmly. “I don’t want to do this, YoungBae, but YG demanded it.” He told the younger man in a softer tone.
“I understand.” TaeYang replied quietly.
“Lexy… I can’t… I’m not allowed to see you until this news blows over…” He told his lover into the phone.
“What?” Lexy asked in disbelief.
“I don’t want to but…” He tried to think of a good excuse. “I’m sorry…” He replied quietly.
“Oh YoungBae…” Lexy started sympathetically, “This will be hard on you, but don’t worry, we’ll be fine.” She told him.
TaeYang smiled. “I’m glad.”
Baby`s asking everyday
Daddy when you gonna` come home
And it breaks my heart to say
Mom and daddy`s moving on
But she`ll know we`re both in her life
And our family will be just fine
It had been going on almost three months, and TaeYang couldn’t believe how long the news of his having a child lasted. It killed him to be away from Lexy and HyeMin for so long.
“TaeYang… Are you okay?” GDragon asked, noticing his friend’s depression.
TaeYang leaned against his friend desperately, “I miss them so much…” He began before his phone began ringing.
“Daddy!” HyeMin’s voice came over the other line.
TaeYang’s face contorted in a smile, “HyeMinnie… What are you doing?” He asked his daughter, and GDragon returned the smile his friend gave him.
“I’m going to preschool!” His daughter explained excitedly.
“Are you really?” He asked his daughter, love apparent in his voice.
“Yeah. But daddy… All my friends talk about their daddies and I don’t get to see you… When are you coming back?” The child asked sadly.
TaeYang lowered his head, the smile fading then returning as he thought of something, “I’m there.”
“I don’t see you,” The girl replied.
“Do you think of me everyday? And does mommy?” He asked her.
“Of course!”
“Then I’m there,” TaeYang replied, “Can I talk to your mother?”
“Okay, here mommy, daddy wants you,” The child told her mother.
Cause she`s got your eyes and that crooked smile of mine
So they`ll always be you and I
And though things have changed one thing remains the same
We`ll still be a family even if there`s no you and me
“TaeYang… How’ve you been?” Lexy asked lightly.
“Fine, how about you two?”
“We’ve been well… Watching your activities on tv.” Lexy replied.
TaeYang smiled softly. “I think I’ll be able to come visit soon…”
“Baby, don’t lie.”
“I miss you,” TaeYang told her sadly.
“I want to be a part of the family again,” TaeYang told his love, once again sounding desperate.
“You never left the family, YoungBae.”
