I remember it too. We talked early about not saying it with meaning and not just because it was expected.

In fact, I made a point of not repeating back to him that I loved him every time he said it to me, but to simply reply with a "thank you". It somehow was nicer to me to just accept it as a gift and bask in it, rather than immediately just give it right back to him.

His stress WAS cute, but I think it was also an indication of his wanting to be true to his feelings, which I really respected. Thanks for commenting!
