And we have a space station! There is much coolness in the world.

We may have a space station, but we should have had colonies on Mars by now!

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. Accentuate the positive! There's two rovers on Mars and plans to send another one. Private exploitation of space is starting up. The world is getting a sense of global interconnectedness; even though it takes disasters like global warming, financial crises, and the oil spill, I believe there's an awareness that we're all in this together.

Yeah, I was born impatient for space colonies too, but I think we'll get them when humanity's really ready for them. Next year the Chinese will put up their first space station, and is pushing for the Moon; that will spur some reaction in Washington. In the meantime count your blessings. New Horizons, the fastest manmade object, is over halfway to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt. You want faster action, write your congress-critter.
