people with the need to know

Oct 11, 2006 05:06

I am in grad school at Loyola, as a MS in Comp Sci candidate

I work downtown, at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, doing programming in financial algorithms most of the day

I live in Streeterville, around Ontario and St. Clair

I still miss spinach.

I just got back from a concert. This will be the year of many concerts for me.

Regarding Spinach: The restaurant where I work has almost gotten approval to begin using spinach again in their recipes, so hopefully a national clearance isn't so far off in the distance?

I empathize though...spinach salads > everything.

That's some great news. I love spinach salads. It hurts me that Jewel won't even sell me spinach... let me make the decision to risk MY LIFE! If I want to use heroin, that's my game.

I do what I can. Are there any schools in particular at which you're looking?

I want to stay in Chicago or Wisconsin - so the usuals like UIC, Northwestern, UW, MCW, etc are on my list.

I have no idea why people are insane about spinach (more specifically, e coli poisoning). I'm sure it could be rinsed off or cooked with no problems.

The programming you're doing sounds absolutely insane, too.. Programming is scary.. Programming crazy math functions would drive me batty.

YaY for concerts!!!!

Yeah... if I could buy it, I would eat it.

Programming is always fun. It's not scary. Nuclear weapons are scary.

How's the Russian coming?

Russian scares me to death.. I studied lots this week.. Took the train and went over the handouts a bunch of days.. I still didn't even learn the basics of vocab.. Today I was late for class (it was rainy and I got off to a late start getting there), and it took me 10-20 minutes just to "calm down" enough to pay attention (I ride my bike there, so about 12 miles). I don't know what leve I expect to get out of it, but I'm not really very far yet. I could slowly read words, and horribly mispronounce the vowels.. =P

Sweeeeeeeeeet.

OK. I'm not online very often... I don't have the Internet properly at my home yet, and feel weird with AIM on at work/school. We should correspond though.
